State Fair - Final Update

Most of us have made it home, and those that haven’t are staying for the Oregon Pork Producers Open Show this week at the state fair.

Today was a very good, I’d go so far as say, unmatched, day for CCFFA at the state fair. We had two members compete in the State Livestock Judging Contest today; Logen Middaugh and Kyndrah Meadows. Kyndrah placed 7th High Individual in the Novice Contest!

Our final awards of the state fair are as follows:

- Second Place Chapter in Swine Herdsmanship
- First Place Chapter in Goat Herdsmanship
- Premier Pygmy Goat Exhibitor, Logen Middaugh
- Premier Swine Exhibitor, Logen Middaugh
- Premier Poultry Exhibitor, Piper Hallam

Last, but most certainly not least, we are so incredibly proud that Logen Middaugh was selected as the OSU Stockman Award recipient! Logen will have his name permanently engraved on a plaque that resides in the Department of Animal Science at Oregon State University with those that have been selected before him! I am looking forward to my next trip to Corvallis to go see it in person!!!

We are so proud of all of our members for a fantastic 2026 Oregon State Fair! Congratulations to them all!

CCFFA Members at State Fair: Make sure you handle this by tomorrow morning!

State Fair Update #4

Today was the last show day at the 2026 Oregon State Fair.

Tristan Kossler and Jennifer Brooks ran their horses in several gaming events, putting together some very respectable times in several of them!

Logen Middaugh and his partner were selected Champion Team in the OSF Hog Fitting Contest.

Kyndrah Meadows and her partner were selected as the 5th place team in the OSF Hog Fitting Contest.

Logen then competed in Master Showmanship, and we will find out results tomorrow.

Brenna Burington won her Feeder Hog class.

Logen won his Lightweight Market Hog class.

Logen also won his Heavyweight Market Hog class. This hog was also selected Reserve Grand Champion Market Hog.

It was another good day for our members. Tomorrow is the last day, with the judging contest and awards presentations.

State Fair Update #3

Today was another good day at the Oregon State Fair for our Crook County FFA members!

- Jennifer Brooks competed in Division 1 Horse Showmanship.
- Tristan Kossler competed in Division 2 Horae Showmanship.
- Thomas showed his Dorper Yearling Ewe in the Breeding Sheep show and was third in his class.
- Piper Hallam Showed all of her poultry today and was selected as Champion Advanced and Reserve Grand Champion Poultry Showman.
- Logen Middaugh showed all of his Pygmy Goats and was selected as Champion Division 2 and Grand Champion Showman, Supreme Champion Wether and Supreme Champion Doe.
- Kyndrah was 4th in her class with her commercial gilt.
- Brenna was Champion Registered NSR Gilt with her Berkshire and went on to be Supreme Champion Breeding Gilt.
- Logen was Reserve Registered NSR Gilt, Reserve Commercial Gilt and showed another gilt to second in class.

It was a good day for CCFFA!

State Fair Update #2

Several of our members got things going in the show ring today, and they had some success!

Wyatt Gamble’s podium that he built for our chapter earned a blue ribbon.
Thomas Fitzgerald showed in Division 1 Sheep Showmanship.
Kyndrah Meadows showed in and was 3rd overall in Division 2 Swine Showmanship.
Logen Middaugh showed in Division 2 Swine Showmanship and was selected Champion and the need the night being selected as the Grand Champion Swine Showman.
Brenna Burington showed in Division 1 Swine Showmanship and was selected Champion and ended the evening being selected Reserve Grand Champion Swine Showman.

State Fair Update #1

Wyatt Gamble, in what will likely be his last FFA activity, is competing in the Oregon FFA State Tractor Driving Contest this afternoon in Salem. He has completed his safety test, parts identification test, tractor loading, implement attachment and pallet loading practicums, and is about to complete his day with the trailer maneuvering course. Good luck Wyatt!
