Today I'm sharing the KIMT 3 News Story that Griffin came out and did on my Cake Shop after the Fire.
Griffin, Thank You from the bottom of my Heart for taking the time to come to Plainview, Listen to my Story, and Share it with our Community. Your Kindness and Compassion meant more than you'll ever know during one of the hardest weeks of my Life!!!
This little Cake Shop has been my Dream, my Livelihood, and a place where I've been Blessed to be part of so many of your Birthdays, Weddings, Anniversaries, Graduations, and Life's Special Moments. Seeing it Damaged by Fire has been Heartbreaking.
To my Wedding Couples and Cake Customers who had orders booked with me, I am Truly Sorry. Having to make those phone calls and Cancel your orders was one of the Hardest things I've ever had to do!!! I know many of you Trusted me to be part of your Special Day, and it Breaks my Heart that I couldn't be there for You.
I'm also disappointed that I had to Cancel my September Cupcake order for the Wabasha Drill Training. I was so looking forward to serving all of you! Since returning from Indonesia you have gone with me for your Dessert and I Appreciate it!!!
It really does seem like when it Rains, it Pours. Between the Challenges Life has thrown my way over the past few Years and now this Fire, there have been Moments when I've wondered what could possibly happen next.😥😥😥
But if there's one thing this Experience has reminded me, it's how incredibly Blessed I am. The Love, Prayers, Phone Calls, Messages, Hugs, Neighbors, Firefighters, Family, Friends, Customers, and complete Strangers who have reached out have lifted me up more than Words can Express.❤️😥❤️
This isn't the End of Cakes Etc. It's simply another Chapter in the Story.
Griffin, I'll keep you updated as we rebuild. And when those ovens are Hot again, and the Cupcake Case is Full, and we're ready to Welcome Everyone back through the Doors, I'd Love for you to come back and Share that Story too. I can't wait for that Day!!! ❤️🧁❤️

The fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault in the bakery's freezers and was largely contained to the back of the building.

💔 Important Update from Cakes Etcetera 💔

It is with a Heavy Heart that I have to share that Cakes Etcetera will be CLOSED until further notice due to a Fire at the Shop.

I was so looking Forward to seeing everyone for Crazy Days, Corn on the Cob Days, and filling several upcoming cake and cupcake orders. Unfortunately, those events and orders will have to be canceled while we focus on Cleanup, Repairs, and Rebuilding.

The Good News is that the Fire was contained to the back room where my freezers were, and I'm incredibly Grateful that it never spread into the main Shop. While there is significant Smoke, Water, and Fire damage that needs to be repaired, it could have been so much worse.

I want to give a Special Thank You to the Plainview Fire Department for their quick response and incredible work containing the fire. I'd also like to thank my neighbor, Paul, for noticing the fire and immediately calling 911. Because of his quick actions and the outstanding work of our Firefighters, what could have become a devastating fire affecting the entire block was stopped before it got that far.

A Heartfelt Thank You also goes to Mike Lyons for Everything he did during this ordeal. Your Help, Support, and Quick response are Deeply Appreciated!

There is a Long Road ahead with Cleanup, Renovations, and working through the Insurance process, but I promise I'll keep everyone updated along the way.

Thank You to EVERYONE who has reached out with your prayers, kind words, and offers to help. Your support means more than you know, and I'm truly grateful to be part of such an amazing community.

I can't wait for the Day I can reopen the doors, fire up the ovens again, and welcome everyone back to Cakes Etcetera. ❤️

Today, we Celebrate the Freedoms we Enjoy because of the Brave Men and Women who have served and sacrificed for our Country. To all of our Veterans, Active-Duty Military, and the Families who have stood beside them—Thank You. Your Courage and Sacrifice are NEVER Forgotten.

As you Celebrate today, remember what this Holiday is truly about: Freedom, Gratitude, and the opportunity to gather with the people we Love.

Wishing everyone a Safe and Joyful Independence Day! Make Memories, share some Laughs, Hug your Family and Friends a little tighter, and Cherish the time you have together—because those moments are the Sweetest of all. ❤️
