šŸ” Homemade Beats Drive-Thru Every Time šŸŸ

Who needs Chick-fil-A when you can make a meal like this right at home?

Tonight we’re keeping it simple: juicy burgers and crispy cottage fries, both made with ingredients from Azure Standard. These organic potatoes are sliced into cottage fries and fried in rich beef tallow until they’re golden and crispy on the outside while staying soft and fluffy on the inside.

The best part? They only take about 10 minutes to cook!

There’s something satisfying about knowing exactly what goes into your food. No mystery oils, no long ingredient lists—just real potatoes, quality beef tallow, and a little time in the kitchen.

Sometimes the best ā€œfast foodā€ isn’t from a drive-thru at all… it’s made in your own cast iron skillet. ā¤ļø

Have you ever tried frying potatoes in beef tallow? Once you do, you might never go back!

The waiting is the hardest part! šŸ„’šŸ’š

Canned these pickles up the other day, and they should be ready to enjoy in just a couple more days. I can’t wait to hear that first crunch! 🤤

There’s just something so satisfying about filling the pantry with homemade food.
Who else sneaks a taste as soon as they’re ready? šŸ˜„

šŸŖ Some cravings just refuse to be ignored…

You know the kind.

The one that starts with, ā€œI just want one cookie.ā€ Then suddenly you’re pulling out the butter, measuring flour, and digging through the pantry for chocolate chips like you’re on a mission. šŸ˜‚

There’s just something about homemade chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven that no store-bought cookie can ever compete with. The smell fills the whole house, the chocolate is still melty, the centers are soft and gooey, the edges have just the right amount of crisp, and if you sprinkle a little flaky sea salt on top… well, that’s pure magic.

Baking isn’t always about satisfying a sweet tooth. Sometimes it’s about slowing down, making memories in the kitchen, and enjoying the simple things. A warm cookie in one hand, a cold glass of milk in the other, and suddenly the day feels a little sweeter.

Tonight, the cookie craving won… and honestly, I’m not even mad about it. šŸ¤ŽšŸŖ

Tell me… are you a warm, gooey cookie straight from the oven person, or do you wait until they’re completely cooled?

Some of the best meals are also the simplest.

Today’s lunch was a bowl of creamy cottage cheese topped with Korean-style kimchi from Azure Standard. It might sound like an unexpected combination if you’ve never tried it, but the cool, creamy cottage cheese perfectly balances the bold, tangy, slightly spicy flavor of the kimchi. It’s become one of my favorite quick meals when I want something satisfying without spending a lot of time in the kitchen.

I love finding simple foods made with quality ingredients, and Azure Standard has become one of my favorite places to source pantry staples and fermented foods. If you’re looking to stock your pantry with wholesome ingredients, you can browse their selection here:

Have you ever tried cottage cheese with kimchi? If not, don’t knock it until you’ve taken that first bite—it just might surprise you! 🌿🄣

Every time more people start talking about eating whole foods, cooking from scratch, and choosing fresh fruits and vegetables, another food safety headline seems to mysteriously pop up. Maybe it’s just coincidence. Maybe it isn’t. Either way, it’s enough to make anyone question how our food is grown, handled, and distributed.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I do know this: the more I can grow myself, the more I trust what’s on my family’s table. That’s one of the biggest reasons we’ve embraced homesteading. It’s not about fear—it’s about taking back a little control over what we eat.

Whether you agree or disagree, I think more transparency in our food system benefits everyone.

At the end of the day, I’m going to keep planting seeds, preserving food, supporting local farmers whenever I can, and doing my best to feed my family with food I know and trust. Every small step toward self-sufficiency is a step worth taking.

🌿 What are your thoughts? I’d love to hear them in the comments.

🌿 A little glimpse into life around the homestead… šŸ”ā¤ļø

Some weekends are for slowing down, getting your hands dirty, and filling the pantry one homemade item at a time.

This weekend was packed with simple, homemade goodness:
🌱 Harvested fresh basil from the garden and preserved it in olive oil for easy cooking all year long.
šŸ„— Whipped up a homemade salad dressing from simple pantry ingredients.
šŸž Baked fresh loaves of homemade bread that filled the house with the best smell imaginable.
šŸ… Pulled together a cheesy homemade lasagna topped with fresh basil straight from the garden.
šŸ— Made homemade chicken nuggets from scratch for sugar my grand baby- because once you make them yourself, it’s hard to go back! Especially since they’re so much healthier than store bought.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about knowing exactly what’s in your food and taking the time to make it with your own hands. It may take a little extra effort, but every loaf, every meal, and every jar reminds me why I love this lifestyle.

It’s not about perfection—it’s about learning, growing, and enjoying the simple things. One recipe, one harvest, and one homemade meal at a time. šŸ’š

What’s one thing you’ve made from scratch lately? I’d love to hear about it! 😊
