From my first "right side up" pineapple upside down cake, I was hooked. Baking has always been a part of my life; from cookies with my grandmother, to boxed cakes, to toaster oven angel food cake from my Marine Corps barracks, to hand crafted cakes for coworkers - I love baking and constantly strive to improve my technique. The scientist in me enjoys testing ingredients and understanding why thing

s come out the way they do. But it is the "mom" in me that brought about Broody Hen Bakery. Thanks to Virginia's cottage laws, I am able to offer direct sale goods from my very own home kitchen, making sitting on my little chicks and sharing my love of baking a new way of life.

A special birthday vintage heart cake and coordinating cupcakes. I hope your day was magical!
New flavor alert - strawberry matcha! And it’s soooo delicious! Marbled strawberry matcha cake layers filled with a strawberry and Bavarian crème filling, vanilla and matcha buttercream exterior. The green buttercream is matcha, no artificial coloring required. I cut into a sample cupcake for the effect. My two taste testers and I approve!

Congrats to Peyton on her recent graduation - moving on to big things with a really big cookie cake. (This was the largest one I’ve made and was very happy with how it baked up. Just shy of a half sheet size!)
