No bbq’s fireworks or cherry pie today or any other day until those holding democracy at her throat releases its grip.
I am truly rattled at the clear theft and dismantling of everything that makes this country amazing. We are no shining beacon but soon folks from all walks of life will begin to feel the great loss of everyday freedoms and necessities. Many are already facing harsh realities undeserved and unprovoked by a few that seem to brainwash the masses at an alarming level. The lack of fighting back is dismaying to say the least.

There are freedom rallies happening around the country today, find one and participate if you can.

It’s been Orca madness in my area as we’ve have several Orca sightings in the last week.
I’ve managed to missed them all even though I was on one of the areas twice this week.
Hoping they’ll head back down this way soon.

𝒥𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝒻𝑜𝓇 𝒻𝓊𝓃𝓈𝒾𝑒𝓈.

Another baker friend and I have had several convos about fresh flowers on this trending cake style so I made one with my backyard beauties for fun.

The style is quite gorgeous and so playful with endless possibilities and a lot of room for creativity and it’s also a very forgiving style.

We’ve come across many with flowers that are toxic to humans in varying degrees.

Tulips, daffodils and anthuriums are all poisonous to humans when ingested.
Some parts of these flowers can cause skin irritation as well.

There are some ways that you can use these flowers safely on cakes and I will go over them in my next post.

The main thing is ensuring that these varieties are not coming into direct contact with your client’s cake.
And it’s always wise to relay the potential risks with your clients.

Here’s a list of all the backyard flowers I used.

Magnolias: petals are edible
Ferns: not harmful depending on variety
Tulips: toxic, porous stems
Daffodils: toxic, porous stems
Dogwood: non toxic, mild irritation if ingested.
Azaleas: toxic when ingested.
