We have the amazing news everybody has been waiting for… sweet baby Evelyn is HOME! 💜
She was released a couple weeks ago, but her and her momma have taken the time to settle in, go to lots of doctor appointments, and enjoy some very well deserved snuggle time.
The past 3 months have been a teeter totter of emotions — the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. We delayed announcing she was home because after her surgery announcement, her sodium levels dropped and our girl suffered not one, but two seizures. Thankfully, Magaly was with her and was able to catch them immediately, but it also caused her to witness things no parent should ever have to see. After observation, testing, and an EEG, doctors determined Evelyn did not suffer any damage to her heart, brain, or organs. She was truly covered in God’s amazing glory.
Evelyn was originally going to be sent home on an NG tube, however, Magaly’s hard work and perseverance paid off and she was able to come home without it! Evelyn can only breastfeed right now because she still aspirates badly when attempting to bottle feed. Because of the feeding situation, Magaly cannot look for a job at this time as Evelyn requires around-the-clock care (and believe me, we’ve tried every bottle and ni**le possible).
After visits with speech, physical therapy, and occupational therapy, it was determined that our girl has a double cheek tie, an upper lip tie, and a tongue tie. At this time they are not recommending revision since it is not impacting her weight gain or breastfeeding.
As of Monday, May 11, baby girl officially broke the 10 pound mark weighing a whopping 10lbs 3.5oz, and she turned 3 months old on Saturday, May 16th. She may be tiny (for our family), but she is mighty! She is doing well holding her head up and now that sternal precautions are over, she is starting to work on tummy time.
We have been so blessed by all of your prayers, love, and support throughout this journey, but it is not over yet. Evelyn still has many appointments ahead of her and will continue seeing cardiology throughout her life. She is also still on multiple medications around the clock.
If you feel led to help, we are attaching the GoFundMe, Venmo, and CashApp to help assist Magaly with truck payments, insurance, and daily expenses while she continues caring for sweet baby Evelyn. Every prayer, share, and donation means more than we could ever express.
Thank you all for loving our girl so fiercely. 💜
