Looking back through these pictures from this week, one thing keeps coming to my heart: I truly love what I do.

There were cakes to bake, pies to make, tea cakes to roll, frosting to whip, labels to prepare, orders to fill, a kitchen to clean—and then clean again. 😂 But when you prepare, have a plan, and genuinely love what you’re doing, somehow it just doesn’t feel like work.

There is something special about being in my kitchen, measuring ingredients, watching cakes rise in the oven, and turning simple things like butter, sugar, flour and eggs into something that brings people joy.

And through every bit of it, I remain grateful for the women who came before me. The women who cooked and baked without fancy equipment, who knew recipes by heart and measurements by feel. The women who fed their families, their churches and their communities with love.

Some of them never had a business with their name on it. They never had social media to share their beautiful work. But what they taught, what they created and the love they poured into their kitchens did not disappear.

It made its way to me.

So when I bake, I know these hands are carrying more than a recipe—they are carrying a legacy.

I’m grateful for every order, every purchase, every compliment, every person who shares my posts, and every person who allows something from My Ancestors’ Bakery to be part of their table.

After a beautiful week of baking and another SOLD OUT event, my heart is simply full. 🙏🏾🤎

To the women who came before me: thank you. I’m still baking. I’m still remembering. And I’m still pouring tradition into every pan. 🤎
