I sincerely believe that the Universe has a way of working things out and putting people in the right spot at the right moment. We had planned to take a summer break this week, but one thing after another fell through, and by late July, I figured I'd quietly open up the weekend on my website calendar and see if there was any interest.

I had also just delivered a wedding cake to Aria, and I was thrilled to post the photos in collaboration with Forget Me Not Flower Shop, who had provided the flowers.

Two days later, Tori emailed me, asking if by any chance I had the last Friday in August available for a wedding cake. She'd seen me tag Forget Me Not, also her florist, in the cake photos at the same location she had booked for her wedding, and decided to take a chance. When we got on the phone, she asked, "How are you even available only a month out?!"

Well, that's the Universe taking care of things, I think 😊 I truly could not be happier to have been able to say yes to Tori and Richie for the day they said yes to each other! May all your years be blessed, you two - cheers to a lifetime of health, wealth, and happiness 🥂💍 Thank you (and your lovely families!) so very much! I can't wait to see the professional photos.

Just over a year ago, I received an inquiry from a new client for her 30th birthday cake. It turned out to be one of my all-time favorites, a vintage floral number in shades of dusty rose, mauve, and sage. At the time, I didn't know that Michelle and her fiancé Skyler were ordering it as a tasting cake for their wedding. They even drove 4 hours roundtrip from out of state to pick it up on a holiday weekend!

Well, a year later, it was my turn to make an extended delivery, this time for their wedding 😊 I sincerely could not be happier for these two. Michelle and Skyler, thank you for your trust over the last year in making me a small part of your big day. I am truly honored that I got to make your cake (and cupcakes!) Best wishes for a lifetime of health, wealth, and happiness! 🥂

I cannot overstate just how much I love and appreciate photographers who capture this moment and share it with me, and I think I can pretty confidently speak for all bakers and cake artists in saying so 🥰 Because LOOK AT THAT JOY! Look at how HAPPY this couple is in this particular moment!

There is a reason that the cutting of the cake is ceremonial, a tradition that's lasted through dessert fads and changes in what makes a wedding. It's a moment of sweetness with a touch of silliness in an emotional day. It's starting your life together on the sweetest note. It's feeding the soul 😊

Gold threads through a palette knife faultline on a birthday cake ✨️ Happy birthday, Andrew! Hope you got to enjoy it 🥳 Thanks so much, Kerri 💗

I would definitely try this mash-up of techniques again, because I love the concept, but I would remind myself to concentrate my palette knife strokes to the center of the faultline - by the time I piped and scraped the overlays, I realized I had covered up some of my favorite spots 🤣

I kind of love the orangey-gold and burgundy wine on the peacock blue background, too.

Celebrating the 95th birthday of my beautiful grandmother with this vintage floral cake - all in chocolate, per her request.

I LOVE chocolate frosting. I love the way it pipes, I love the way it looks as a background for other colors, and I especially love that I was able to make this cake for someone so special to me. We had "girl dinner" all afternoon: cheese, crackers, pepperoni, chips and French onion dip, a salad shared among all of us, vegetable pizza, and the most pillowy fried dough ever. She enjoyed her favorite pastime - scratching lotto tickets and letting us check them to see if she won. We facetimed with my recently engaged cousin. We ate a LOT of cake.

I think Grandma had a pretty great day 😊
