🌸 A Little Update From Made From Scratch 🪽❤️‍🩹

It's been a few days since I've posted here, so I wanted to take a moment to update everyone on where things stand with the bakery and our family.

As many of you know, we lost our beautiful baby boy, Lennon James Dean, on October 6th. Yesterday, we held his funeral, and tomorrow, October 15th, the day that was supposed to be his due date, he will be cremated. These are days I never imagined I would have to face as a mother, and my heart aches in ways I cannot put into words.

The bakery will remain closed for the time being. Right now, I need time. Not just to physically recover from childbirth and the complications that followed, but to grieve my son, be present with my family, and begin navigating a life that looks so different from the one we had planned.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, we have made meaningful progress toward our fundraising goal, but we aren't there just yet. The support we've received has allowed us to cover Lennon's funeral expenses, which has been an enormous blessing during such a heartbreaking time. However, we still have additional expenses surrounding his passing, including memorial keepsakes and a special tribute I'm working on for our boy, along with our regular household expenses while we take time away from work.

Our fundraising goal was never just about the funeral itself. It was about giving our family the opportunity to grieve, recover, and spend this time together without the added financial pressure of having to immediately return to work. We're partway there, and every bit of continued support brings us closer to having that time. ❤️

I miss baking. I miss my customers, my little stand, and the business I've poured so much love into building. I fully intend to return when I'm ready, but right now, my heart and my family need me more.

❤️ A Heartfelt Thank You From Our Family 🕊️

The last several days have been the hardest of our lives. Instead of bringing our sweet Lennon home and settling into life as a family of four, we've been making funeral arrangements and trying to navigate a world without our baby boy in it.

Through all of this heartbreak, the love and support we've received from our family, friends, church, bakery customers, and even complete strangers has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way.

When I started Made From Scratch, I never imagined how much this little bakery would become a community of people who genuinely care about our family. So many of you have reached out with prayers, kind words, and offers to help, and I wish I could express just how much that means to us. ❤️

As we've shared, Made From Scratch will remain closed for the foreseeable future while we take time to grieve our son, allow my body to heal from childbirth and surgery, and focus on being together as a family.

Our hope is for Mitch and me to have the time we need to process this loss without the immediate pressure of returning to work, while also making sure Bonnie has the love, attention, and stability she needs during this difficult time.

❤️ An Update From Our Family — Welcoming & Remembering Lennon ❤️

This is not the update we ever imagined we would be sharing with our wonderful bakery community.

On Tuesday, October 6th, at 4:17 AM, we welcomed our beautiful baby boy, Lennon, into the world. He was born just 9 days before his due date, weighing 7 lbs 2 oz and measuring 21 inches long.

Unfortunately, our sweet boy had already passed away before we had the chance to meet him.

Lennon is absolutely beautiful, perfect in every way, and everything we could have ever dreamed of in a son. We are completely heartbroken that instead of bringing him home to begin our lives as a family of four, we are now having to plan his funeral and learn how to live without him.

After a difficult delivery and complications that required emergency surgery, we are finally home. I am recovering physically, but emotionally, this is a pain I cannot begin to describe.

While our hearts are shattered, we find comfort in knowing that our precious Lennon is safe in the arms of Jesus. ❤️

For now, Made From Scratch Cottage Bakery will remain closed.

I have poured so much of myself into building this little business, and so many of you have supported us through my pregnancy, watched our family grow, and eagerly awaited Lennon's arrival. I wish more than anything that I was announcing his birth under different circumstances.

Right now, my husband Mitch and I need time to grieve our son, allow my body to recover, care for our daughter Bonnie, and simply be together as a family. We don't know when I'll be ready to return to baking, and I'm trying not to put that pressure on myself right now.

We have been incredibly blessed by the kindness of those around us. Snyder Funeral Homes has graciously waived Lennon's cremation expenses, and our wonderful church is helping us give our baby boy a beautiful service. We are so grateful for everyone who has already reached out, prayed for us, and supported our family.

A heartbreaking update from our family 🤍
It is with an absolutely shattered heart that I have to share that our sweet baby boy, Lennon, passed away unexpectedly before we were able to meet him.
I will be going into the hospital tomorrow to give birth to our son. Afterward, our family will be taking time away to grieve, plan his funeral, and begin trying to process a loss we never imagined we'd be facing.
Our bake stand is already stocked today and will remain open until dark tonight. After that, Made From Scratch will be closed until further notice. All preorders, deliveries, stand sales, and store restocks will be paused.
I don't know when I'll be ready to return to baking, and right now I don't want to put a timeline on it. When I'm ready, I'll post an update here.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our bakery and our family. Right now, more than anything, we would appreciate your prayers as we prepare to meet our beautiful boy and somehow say goodbye to him.
