Hi friends!

Summer is beginning to wind down, and we thought we’d share where inspiration found each of us this season.

For Ari, it was in Europe… pastry cases, beautiful meals, old architecture and museum walls covered in art. For me, it was in the great outdoors, trying paddleboarding for the first time, picking fresh blackberries with my kids and spending a little more time connecting with nature.

Two very different summers, but both left us feeling creatively refreshed and incredibly grateful for all the beautiful work we’ve been trusted to make lately.

Now we’re stepping into my absolute favorite season… the beginning of fall, which really means the beginning of the holidays!! And we have so much to share!

FALL CAKE DROP

Our newest collection lives somewhere between romantic museum art and wild blackberries, rich autumn color, sculptural piping, seasonal fruit and florals, and just the right amount of moodiness.

This fall brings three new designs: Darling After Dark, our deep berry-toned twist on the Vintage Darling; Autumn Blossom, a lush and abundant seasonal take on our beloved Citrus Blossom; and Stone & Petal, a dark, sculptural beauty adorned with blackberries and whimsical florals.

NEW SEASONAL CAKE FLAVORS

We’re also introducing two new seasonal cake flavors:
Spice Cake + Blood Orange Curd
Warmly spiced cake layered with bright, tart blood orange curd. A cozy fall cake with a little unexpected citrus!
Cardamom Cake + Chocolate Buttercream + Pistachio Praline
Fragrant cardamom vanilla cake, rich chocolate buttercream and a layer of crunchy pistachio praline. Warm, nutty and a little bit decadent.

TWO NEW CUPCAKES HAVE ENTERED THE BAKERY CASE THIS SEASON!

Our rendition of Pineapple Upside-Down Cake pairs caramelized pineapple and brown sugar with a swirl of buttercream, graham dust and that essential classic glossy red cherry.

We’re also welcoming a new Devil’s Food Cupcake topped with tangy chocolate cream cheese frosting. Simple, nostalgic and extremely chocolatey... a new fave for me!

Finished with pressed flowers, delicate botanical details, and soft buttercream textures, it's romantic, timeless, and perfect for celebrations year-round.

A little love for Strawberry

Our naturally pink Strawberry and White Chocolate Pink Cookie has been getting the sweetest feedback. It’s fruity, soft, studded with white chocolatevand it happens to be gluten-free. If you haven’t tried her yet, consider this your sign!

More to come this fall...

We’re planning pop-ups with some of our favorite local coffee shops, along with more opportunities to show up for the community that has supported Butter for more than eleven years, including Union Station Homeless Services, through upcoming donations, raffles and community events.

We’ll share dates and details soon! For now, thank you for continuing to invite us into your birthdays, weddings, family dinners and ordinary days that deserve something sweet.

Hi friends,

Before we head out for a little summer break, we wanted to share a few moments that made this summer especially meaningful.

As we approach 11 years in our little Los Feliz studio, we realized something recently... While we spend most of our days designing and making cakes, some of our favorite moments happen in between the orders.

They're the conversations we have with you, the new faces we meet, the lessons we learn while trying a new technique, and all the little moments that remind us why we started Butter Cake Shoppe in the first place.

Passing It On

One of the unexpected highlights of this summer has been welcoming a couple of aspiring bakers into our kitchen.

My nephew spent a few mornings baking alongside me, asking a hundred questions and becoming completely fascinated by the process, the smells, and all the different textures. Seeing the excitement through his eyes was such a joy!

We've also had a local high school student join us to learn because she loves baking at home and wanted to experience what it's like in a professional kitchen.

Somewhere along the way, I realized something about myself... I absolutely love teaching.

Watching someone discover a new skill and grow in confidence, especially young people, is incredibly rewarding and it's left us dreaming about where this part of Butter Cake Shoppe might lead one day.

Vacation Traditions

We're packing a few Pink Cookie Mixes for our family trip because baking together has quietly become one of our favorite vacation traditions.

The boys always find the funniest and most colorful ways to decorate their cookies, and those messy, colorful, laughter-filled afternoons become some of our favorite family memories!

Teaching has always been one of the most fulfilling parts of baking for me. Seeing little hands get excited to measure, mix, ask a hundred questions, become fascinated by textures and watching everything come together, then realizing they created it is incredibly heartwarming and rewarding.

Whether it’s my own kids, my niece and nephew, or anyone who’s curious enough to learn and get a little messy, I genuinely light up when I get to share what I know. It helps quiet the imposter syndrome I live with daily.

It’s a big part of why we decided to launch The Pink Cookie Mix as our first retail product. I wanted families to have a way to bake together, learn together, have fun together, and create the kinds of memories that make baking so special to me.

Lately, I’ve been wondering if it’s time to take that a step further, because just thinking about it lights me up… and I’d love your help!!

Would there be interest in things like:
Kids baking classes
Birthday party baking experiences
Teen mentorship or bakery workshops
Parent + child baking classes
Summer baking camps

Giving Back to Venezuela

We're kicking off the season with our brand new Summer Cake Drop, a playful collection inspired by candy aisles, pool days, camping trips, 90s nostalgia, sunshine, and everything we love about summer.

GEM POP

We’ve officially launched our new Signature Cake Collection online to make ordering a beauuuutiful cake as seamless as possible for you all.

So, a few weeks ago we went to Vegas to see No Doubt at the Sphere and it was AMAZINGGG. The fashion, the music, the nostalgia… immediately transported me back to my youth in the best possible way. Warm, tingly, chaotic, iconic... all of it.

And it completely inspired our upcoming summer cake collection!

No, there’s no tartan or leopard print involved (sorry 😂) but think Delia’s catalog meets Lisa Frank energy. Playful colors, dreamy details, candy, sleepover nostalgia, and full-on summer fun.

We seriously cannot wait to show you what we’ve been working on, but here’s a little sneak peek :)

And one more thing...

Thank you for your orders during Teacher Appreciation Week! We were able to make our donation to Pasadena Educational Foundation and help support programs and opportunities for students in our local community.

As always, everything is baked fresh in small batches with real ingredients, lots of butter, and lots of love from these two little sisters in Los Angeles.
