Community Bakery was started in 1947 by Ralph Hinson in the Rose City section of North Little Rock. The bakery moved to a storefront near 14th and Main Streets in Little Rock in 1952 where, over the years, it became an institution in the area. Hinson’s head cake decorator, Agnes Bargiel, bought the business from him in the late 1970′s and operated it until she sold it to Joe Fox in 1983. Bargiel c

ontinued to decorate cakes at Community Bakery until she died in 2008. Fox opened the West Little Rock location in 1986 and then relocated the Main Street store to its current spot after renovating the vacant historic Cohn Building. The Café operation, espresso bar and distinctive line of European style pastries were added when the bakery opened in the Cohn Building at 12th and Main in 1993. All of our baking and cake decorating is done at the Main Street location and many of the recipes used 60 years ago are still in use today. Community Bakery employs 65 people to meet the needs of our customers here in central Arkansas.

🎷✨ Behind the Apron: Meet Blake! ✨🎷⁠

Meet Blake, part of our customer service team at Community Bakery on Main Street! He’s been with the CB family for the past two years, bringing great energy, creativity, and connection to every shift.⁠
⁠
Blake’s favorite thing to make? Matcha 🍵 — “I’m pretty biased toward making matcha because it’s one of my favorite drinks to make for myself,” he says. His go-to order is simple but solid: an espresso shot and a cinnamon raisin bagel with strawberry jam.⁠

What Blake loves most about working at Community Bakery is the people. “The best part of my job is meeting every type of person. A lot of people I see at shows come here too, so it makes it feel more homie and community-driven.” 💛⁠

Fun fact: Blake has been a jazz musician for 10 years and plays saxophone in a band called The Orbitals! He’s also a huge fan of Ska music. 🎶⁠

To Blake, Baking a Difference means making someone’s day—big or small. “I try my best for my coworkers and the people that come into Community Bakery.” And in his words, CB bakes a difference “when we make you feel at home.” 🏡⁠

🍑 May’s Cake of the Month is here, and it’s giving Southern comfort in every bite.

Our Peach Cobbler Bourbon Cake starts with moist vanilla peach cake, layered with bourbon peach filling, and finished with smooth bourbon buttercream. Then we top it with fresh peaches and a brown sugar oatmeal crumble for that cozy peach cobbler feel — just in cake form. 🤎🎂
