As I'm designing Mission Linen and thinking about how we fit into the Arts District community, the same theme kept popping up: being a woman in business, a woman in the coffee industry, and the beautiful challenges of dealing with a lot of men in different authority positions. The clashes I got into bringing this beautiful space to life.
Along the way, I wanted to stay feminine and bring femininity into the Arts District. More importantly, I wanted to use that feminine space to provide friction and moments of collision between humans and our community.
It was really important for me to have that theme written out and find the right artist to bring that to life. I got to meet this wonderful individual at Sign Language Hand Painted Nevada Hand Painted. The serendipity that's happened along the way in finding him: driving down Sunset rd passed by Heritage Tattoo LV Heritage Tattoo. I saw their beautiful sign, and it led me to know that this was the right person for the job.
I just really wanted to shout him out on social media, and he also brought up a really cool idea. Instead of doing regular outdoor signage, we could have something hand-painted. I wanted to poll it out to our community and see how people felt about whether that would be an added benefit to the Arts District.
In addition, the last photo is me trying to figure out how to take photos. Sometimes failures can be a win!
