Rick and I were honored to judge the 2022 Eastern Idaho State Fair Eastern Idaho Sugar Art Show. Our Best in Show award went to local cake artist Yulia Ryabokon of Sweetmastery. We fell in love with the artistry and composition of her Brothers Grimm themed sculpted cake which integrated multiple fairy tales on one cake. This talented cake artist is from Ukraine and it was her first Best in Show win. We suspect it won’t be her last! Congratulations, Yulia! 🍰

It was the immaculate detailing of these handpainted cookies by Confections Bakery that instantly caught our eye at the Eastern Idaho Sugar Art Show Rick and I awarded these artful decorated bug cookies the prestigious Judges Choice award! Congratulations, Nathan Chandler!

Trina won the coveted 2022 Decorators Choice award at the Eastern Idaho Sugar Art Show! Her peers voted her Tattoo cake their favorite in the show. Rick and I scored Trina high in all categories for her gorgeous decorated Tattoo themed fondant wedding cake. She really impressed us with her painting skills and lovely handmade roses and artwork. Here is a beaming Trina posing with Rick and her winning cake!

Rick loves to paint and did a live demonstration of Van Gogh’s starry night in painted buttercream at the Eastern Idaho State Fair Sugar Art Show last week. He used this same technique when he made his popular Starry Night buttercream cake. Attendees got a top down view of Rick’s work on a giant monitor. Eastern Idaho Sugar Art Show

We were delighted to meet Cherry Pie in person at the Dog Show in Pahrump! Rick carefully studied photos of her before sculpting a cake in her likeness. Our client was absolutely thrilled with her cake and said it looked exactly like Cherry Pie - the ultimate compliment! The cake had a captive audience at the dog show! We have an English Cocker Spaniel that we adore - they are such sweet dogs! Rick had a blast making Cherry Pie!
