Hey friends, Sebastian here!👋
What a whirlwind this journey has been. It feels like just yesterday we were baking out of a tiny apartment kitchen, taking orders via Instagram DM’s, and leaving them out on the porch for folks to pick up to maintain social distancing.
I’ve been the hidden hand behind the Instagram account over the years. At this point, my phone’s photo library is like 85-90% pictures of baked goods. I thought it would be fun to share some pics from our salad days on the eve of our final service here in Lancaster.
This first pic of babka is the very first picture of I took of one of Meghan’s bakes. I’ll admit, there were plenty more bakes before this. They just weren’t around long enough for me to photograph. (Sorry not sorry)
We were really experimental with our offerings in those early days. Our small menu changed weekly and Meghan made a little bit of everything. Wish You Well began to bloom.
After we moved into a commissary kitchen and set up our online store, I thought it would be a good idea to try a light box for a more streamlined look to reflect our streamlined menu. Of course I had to rig one up with spare lamps, boxes, and parchment in our garage instead of buying one online. We were on a budget and I love to tinker so it worked out for a bit.
After a while, I accepted that it was far too much work than it was worth getting that contraption to work just right. We moved into a more staged look towards the end of our pop-up / online days. I had a lot of fun playing with different lightings, textures, and layouts.
Needless to say, we’ve learned a lot the old fashioned way over the years. It’s been one hell of a journey filled with extreme highs and lows but I wouldn’t change a thing. I know it’s super cliche but hey, it’s the truth. Im glad we could share this with you all and I’m so excited to see where this takes us.
Let’s do this thing one more time, Lancaster!
