Kristy’s King Cake Krewe

Kristy’s King Cake Krewe Kristy’s King Cake Krewe brings authentic, New Orleans–style King Cakes to Kingwood area.

Kristy’s King Cake Krewe brings authentic New Orleans style King Cakes to Kingwood through small batch, home baked goodness. After moving to Texas 20 years ago and being consistently disappointed by grocery store King Cakes, Kristy spent years perfecting her recipe at home. Now she is excited to share the real deal with the community she calls home, along with a little lagniappe because that is how it is supposed to be done.

💜💛💚 Why I stop selling King Cakes on Mardi Gras

This is one of the most common questions I get, especially from people who didn’t grow up in Louisiana. The answer is actually really meaningful.

King Cake isn’t just a dessert. It’s a tradition.

King Cake season begins on Epiphany (January 6), which marks the arrival of the Three Kings. From that day until Mardi Gras, families and friends gather, celebrate, and share King Cake as part of the Carnival season. Once Mardi Gras ends, the season of celebration ends too.

The next day is Ash Wednesday, which begins Lent. Traditionally, this is a time of reflection and simplicity. The parties stop. The beads come down. And the King Cakes disappear until the next year.

In Louisiana, you simply don’t see King Cakes after Mardi Gras. It’s part of what makes the season feel so special. The limited time makes it meaningful. It gives us something to look forward to every year.

That’s why I stop baking King Cakes after Mardi Gras. Not because I want to… but because I want to honor the tradition and roots that inspired Kristy’s King Cake Krewe in the first place.

But don’t worry 💜
We don’t disappear.

After Mardi Gras, I shift to limited holiday drops throughout the year with the same enriched dough and Louisiana-inspired flavors you’ve come to love.
