FUN FACT! ✨ Our Charleston Chewies and Juneteenth have a lot more in common than immediately meets to eye.
Chewies originated in the Charleston, South Carolina area and the bars are traditionally made with brown sugar, butter, and pecans which are all ingredients that became staples in Southern baking through generations of Black cooks and bakers.
Pecans are native to the South and have long been featured in African American foodways and celebratory desserts. Juneteenth gives us the chance to highlight Southern comfort foods and sweets that reflect the resilience, creativity, and culinary influence of Black Americans.
And this week, we have our original, Red Velvet, and Peach Cobbler Chewies in the bakery case 💕❤️
