Since receiving the heartbreaking news yesterday, so many are remembering and paying tribute to the incomparable Dolly Parton. ✨💕

I came across this cake I made some time ago, and it felt like the perfect photo to share as I thought about what an inspiration she has been to so many of us — and especially to women who have dared to build something of their own.

As a woman who grew up knowing what hard work looked like from an early age, working on farms as a child and eventually becoming a small business owner and entrepreneur, I have always admired Dolly’s story.

She never seemed to forget where she came from, but she certainly wasn’t afraid to dream BIG about where she was going. ✨ She worked hard, lived big, dreamed big — and somehow managed to leave a little sparkle everywhere she went.

And oh did she know how to sparkle. 💕 She reminded us that you can be strong and hardworking and still embrace beauty, femininity, glamour and a whole lot of rhinestones along the way.

She showed us that humble beginnings don’t determine how big you can dream — and that success and kindness don’t have to be mutually exclusive.

What she built was extraordinary, but perhaps even more extraordinary was how much she gave back along the way.

Thank you, Dolly, for the music, the laughter, the generosity, the sparkle, and for showing generations of women that you can dream big, work hard, stay true to who you are, look fabulous doing it, and bring others along with you. ✨💕

What a life. What a legacy. What an inspiration.

And what a beautiful reminder to all of us to leave a little sparkle wherever we go. ✨

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to her family and all those who loved her. What a tremendous loss, but what an incredible legacy she leaves behind. ❤️✨

Sometimes it’s just easier to wear a shirt that explains exactly where you are in life so you don’t have to. 😂

We’re officially a couple of weeks into school being back in session—which is what we were all waiting for, right?! 🙌😂

Except apparently “back to school” also means ALL the extracurricular activities start back at the exact same time. Add in work, laundry, dinner, homework, practices, appointments, keeping an entire household functioning…and in my case, running a small business and icing strawberry cakes somewhere in the middle of it all. 🍓🎂

Oh—and your husband/business partner deciding he’s going to become a little more of a silent business partner these days. 😂 More on that later…

So I need to hear from my fellow parents, small-business owners, homeschool families, working moms and dads, and everybody else currently holding approximately 47 tabs open in their brain…

How are we doing two weeks into the school-year chaos? 😂

Anyone else’s plate completely full…but somehow we just keep adding things to it?
