Bake week over. And now we cozy up with this much needed rainy day. My eldest said that book jumped on his favorites list so obviously I needed to read it. He is the only CS Lewis fan I know that actually doesn’t love the Narnia series 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 It’s left me pondering a ton and I love listening to follow up podcasts. The Literary Life Podcast being one of my favorites. Any others you’d suggest? And have you read ‘Till We Have Faces’? I’d love your thoughts

Friday musings: mend what you love. These chairs haven been with us for almost a decade. Missing some buttons, the arms were torn. I spent this evening mending them, sure new ones would be great but these chairs have had many books read on them, many coffee talks. Held my very pregnant body at times, had those same babies crawl under them and truly I love them just as much. Not everything is worth the energy but sometimes in life that are somethings worth caring for. Relationships, bread dough and yes sometimes even old chairs. Sometimes they just need a little extra love to remember just how special they are . ❤️

Wonderful and messy but life with a big family means a lot of pivoting. Which sometimes means this little corner of the internet gets neglected. I’m back to baking and a few things I’ve enjoyed since I’ve been gone.

Your picnic essentials all in one spot. I’m so excited about summer offerings! I’ve got a few fun menu ideas in the works but tomorrow at the rhythm and Roam Fest I’ll have a small selection of curated items from Jenny Marie and making.merry.market and Haven Arts Co. making your next picnic dreamy. Come pick a picnic basket, tea towel and baguette and be on your way. Or bring a little outdoor in with some adorable stained glass items

Had a few friends over Friday with some signature mocktails and cocktails. These were a hit! Muddle cucumbers and jalapeños pour in simple syrup, vodka (omit for mocktail) and lime juice. Shake and strain into ice cup top with prosecco 🍋‍🟩if mocktails I topped with a lime Spin Drift. They are refreshing and delicious. I’ll have a small batch of this simple syrup at the Rhythm and Roam fest this weekend along with the perfect picnic goodies 🧺

Pitcher Bees knees 🐝🐝🐝Okay remember that honey simple syrup we made? Time to put it to use. This recipe makes about 10 servings (a couple more if you’d like to top off with club soda)
🐝2 2/3 cup Gin
🐝1 cup fresh squeeze lemon juice
🐝3/4 cup of honey simple syrup (more or less to taste)
Mix all into a bottle or pitcher. Serve over ice if you want a little more fizzy drink top off with club soda. Garnish with a mint leaf or lemon wedge.

I learned really early on in motherhood that you are the creator of whimsy in your home especially with all boys. It sounds silly but when I say this in my own booth and thought “well how cute is that” I was so thankful . I make things for the bakery that I use in my home. So thank you you sold me out. Along with our regular bakes you’ll see a lot more specialty items. Seasonal simple syrups, herb butters and things that will make your next summer picnic feel so special.

How do I explain to people that sometimes when I’m bored I just start cooking🤷🏽‍♀️
🧺🍓picnic and cold drink season is upon us so here are a few things prepped for the week
🍓blueberry jam
🍓limoncello
🍓iced tea on repeat (my boys have been loving this)
🍓cold brew coffee
🍓berry shrub (either with sparking water or a cocktail)
🍓simple syrups (honey and sugar)
🍓sliced all my bread for the week
*not pictured washes veggies, meat defrosting and chicken grilled
