{personal post} Today I became the mother of a teenager. This is wild because I truly don’t feel old enough to be the mother of a teen and yet here we are! I have been asked several times if I’m scared of the teen years, or if I’m dreading it, and I’m honestly not. If you’d asked me a decade ago I probably would have agreed, but I’m genuinely excited to see what the next few years hold for my son, as well as our relationship (and subsequently with his sisters in a couple of years).

I did spend some time today looking back fondly at his baby pictures. There is certainly a bittersweetness tinging this milestone birthday. It somehow feels like the beginning of the end of his childhood. Maybe too dramatic a feeling egged on by nostalgia, but nevertheless the excitement is sitting side by side with a little sadness. Here’s to hanging on tight for the next few years, but also learning to let go. ❤️💔
