TGIF!! Nisu Friday is here once again and with a little surprise. I’m trying something new! 🤭 It’s been in the works for a while now. My gram gave me the final push to take the leap and get it on the shelves. The rolls are 100% nisu with butter, cinnamon & sugar rolled up into a sweet bun. At the moment it’s ONLY available @ Bullock’s Farm Stand (74 Number 4 Rd. Fitzwilliam). Go and grab one and let me know what you think. Butter-eyes are available also! Happy heavenly birthday to my Great Grandmother! The inspiration behind the bread! What I wouldn’t give to sit down at her kitchen table with coffee and nisu and have a heart to heart! I miss our coffee time together so much. She taught me the art of sitting down and taking time for each other. I learned so much from her. I am forever grateful that I had her in my life for as long as I did. I miss you!! ❤️🇫🇮☕️

Circa 2018- selling Nisu at the Jaffrey Farmers Market & giving away forget-me-nots in remembrance of my brother. From the beginning of Finnish Mama, I’ve bared my heart to you. Doing my best to be open & honest. Why? Well, I guess because I’m a real human being behind this screen with feelings and not just a bread machine. Second, I’m a mom, which is part of my bakery name. Third, I love to write! Which I want to do more of. And that’s why I recently included ‘personal blog’ as a category for my FB account. In the very near future, once my laptop is fixed, I’ll be sharing blog posts from my WordPress account, where you can follow and enjoy more of my writing if you so desire. This change, this growth, this addition has been nagging at my heart for a VERY long time. I thought, “what do I have to lose?” If it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out. But following a “calling” is something that I’ve learned to trust a long time ago! I’m just done with making excuses. I have so many writing ideas always running through my head, it will be freeing to finally put them to work! So stay tuned!!! Finnish Mama Part lll is coming soon! 💃🏼💕🤗🇫🇮🙌🏻

What do you see in this picture? I see so much! I don’t just see bees on a flower. I see 3 bees occupying a small space together, giving each other room to be there safely as they patiently wait for the sun to warm them. I see acceptance - allowing each other to be there without threat or judgement. I see respect - sharing a common need and supporting one another to achieve it. There’s a lot to be said about this special moment that I was fortunate enough to witness. Reminding me of how beautiful a relationship can be when all these things are present. They’re not guaranteed or promised but important in any relationship. Because without them, there can’t be trust.

Phew! Another successful bread delivery day is in the books! 🙌🏻 Honestly, it’s one of my favorite parts of what I do. Even though I’m utterly exhausted, I look forward to seeing the people! The shop owners, staff and customers. Most often times I have at least two boys with me and they get to witness first hand the final step of the process… handing the bread off. It’s a BIG step! It’s not always easy to put yourself out there for others to critique. However, feeling confident in the fact that I’m doing my part to preserve something that my ancestors have done in this area for over a century definitely helps to push past any doubt or insecurity. It’s not easy to juggle ALL the things and a lot of the time I don’t try! I drop the ball A LOT! My family and my health takes priority. That’s why I try to find myself out in the trees as much as I can and they teach me to be gentle with myself. Like the breeze that sways through their branches.🌲❤️🌳 I highly recommend it!

Fresh. Ground. Organic. Green. Cardamom.
That’s what makes Nisu, Nisu. Without it, it’s just another bread. Thanks to my amazing grandmother, who volunteers to do the painstaking task of decorticating the cardamom. The volume that is needed on a weekly basis is intense. Organic green cardamom is the only choice in my opinion. Frontier Co-op offers an excellent product! Bread is available TODAY (Thursday) at Bullock’s Farm Stand (74 Number 4 Rd.) in Fitzwilliam. I’m prepping for Nisu Friday for 3 locations! The Cozy Cottage , The Dub Gen & Ben's Sugar Shack & The Maple Station Market will have fresh bread tomorrow by noon! Hope you had a good week! 🇫🇮❤️☀️
