The kitchen was busy this week!

I’m so glad cooler temps are here so my kitchen stays cool while the oven keeps warm.

Bonus - the Great British Bake Off is back! I won’t be participating in challenges this year, but I may bake here and there along the way. Looking forward to seeing how Nigella is as a judge.

A huge shoutout to my dear friend for the Barnes & Noble birthday gift card that led me straight to this gem! I always wander into the cookbook section, and when I spotted Cake Picnic by Elisa Sunga, I had to grab it. I'd been seeing the concept all over social media lately.

My very first bake from it was this pistachio cake with sour cherry buttercream, and it is every bit as delicious as it sounds.

The book actually details how to organize a cake picnic to bring people in the community together, which got me thinking...

A favorite in our house, Claire Saffitz’s sour cream and chive rolls are extra special when made with fresh chives from our garden (a lovely gift from our neighbors). Pillowy soft and delicious, they were devoured by the boys for dinner and breakfast the next morning!

What do you call these bars in your house? Depending on where you grew up, you might know them as:

▪️Chocolate Revel Bars
▪️Hip Padders
▪️Tootsie Roll Bars

Either way, you absolutely cannot go wrong with layers of brown sugar, oats, and a fudgy chocolate center. Toss in some walnuts—or pecans, if you have superior taste like me—and you have the perfect treat!

Is it even summer if there isn't a giant, colorful fruit pizza sitting on the potluck table? 🍓🥝🍍

There’s just something unmatched about a soft, buttery cookie crust topped with fluffy cream cheese frosting and a mountain of fresh, vibrant fruit. It’s light, refreshing, and honestly just looks like summer on a plate.

Speaking of fruit pizza, we have a little favor to ask our Wildflour community. Once upon a time, my mom and I made the absolute best fruit pizza crust, and the secret ingredient was crushed-up animal crackers. It added the most incredible texture and that nostalgic, vanilla-sweet flavor.

The tragic baker's tale? The recipe got lost along the way, and we haven’t been able to track it down since. 😭

If you happen to have a legendary fruit pizza crust recipe that features animal crackers, please do us a massive favor and send it our way! We would love to recreate that kitchen magic.
