Thank you so much for coming to visit us at Tanana Valley Farmers Market today! We are so happy to see many familiar faces on the last day of the season at this market. Thank you all for another amazing market season! Thanks to you all, everything sold out at 12:03 today. Thank you.

For the winter/spring season (from October to April), we will be participating in Goldstream Farmers Market , which is held at Ken Kunkel Community Center on Goldstream Road (near Ivory Jacks) on Sunday (every other Sunday from October). We are planning to be there on October 4th, Sunday. I will post the details when it is getting closer.

This will be the last day of this season at this farmers market.
We will be there from 9AM to 4PM (or until sold out).

This week's culinary experiment: Cloudberry (Aqpik) Cream Puffs!

Our fellow vendor at the farmers market kindly gave us some frozen cloudberries the other day. You can see them here and there when you hike around the wet tundra or forest, but we have found these berries only rarely. We have never seen them bearing fruit abundant enough to make us feel like picking them.

The berry has some distinctive tartness with somewhat musky note. After cooked with some sugar, it turned to taste similar to apricot.
The berry has some harder seeds, so I strained the seeds out of the puree, but I nibbled the strained seeds because they are so precious for us. The berries sticked to the seeds even taste delicious. 😊
We brought some of these cream puffs to the friend who gave us the berries today. Hope they enjoy these cream puffs.

先週、ファーマーズマーケットのベンダー仲間の方からクラウドベリー（ホロムイイチゴ）をいただきました。お花見ハイクをしていると見かけるベリーではあるのですが、沢山実をつけている場面に遭遇したことが今までなかったので、調理、加工できる量を見たのは初めて…早速、砂糖と煮て濾してピュレ状にしたものを使ってシュークリームにしてみました。このピュレが見た目だけでなく味も杏のような味がしてクリーム系の味とあう！チーズケーキとあわせてもきっとおいしいかも。おかげで貴重な体験ができました。感謝の気持ちを込めてベンダー仲間の方にも今日、シュークリームのおすそ分けをしてきました。気にいってくれてるといいな。

Our annual lingonberry picking on September 9th.
It was windy and cold up there in the mountains. We managed to harvest 4850g of lingonberry this time before the rain just started.

毎年恒例のリンゴンベリー摘み…
風が強くて寒かったけど、ふたりでこつこつと３、４時間ほど摘んでリンゴンベリーメロンパン用のベリー、収穫してきました。
今年も自然の恵みに感謝…ほとんど自分たち以外の誰かのお腹におさまることになりますが、毎年、こうして一緒にベリーを摘んでくれるダニエルにも感謝。

Sunday carrot hunt at Goldstream Farmers Market, which is held at Ken Kunkel Community Center on Goldstream Road near Ivory Jacks.
Yes. They are the carrots from Spinach Creek Farm! Seasonal special treats for us. They are so sweet and flavorful! It must have been such strenuous work to harvest them in this fall's colder & wetter conditions. Thank you for keeping growing these!

You can find quite a unique selection of vendors at this cozy market.
The first picture shows the picks from today's market and the third & forth pictures are the ones we picked last week.

Do you know that "Coyote Trail Farm", which is famous for their Qiviut yarn, now also offers some Goat Milk products? I had never tried goat milk before, but when I tried it last week at this market, I was surprised to taste how sweet and rich goat milk is! Their Goat Milk Ice Cream is also amazingly rich but with clean finish. If you haven't tried them yet, I highly recommend trying them. 😊

Speaking of cold dessert, "Pinch of Salt" offers some wide selection of refreshing gelato & sorbet. The "Dill" one we picked last week was sensational. When I tasted, I could tell it has definitely dill in it, but the flavor was deeper than that with almost floral elegant aftertaste and I loved it! It was such a culinary surprise!

☆After the final day at Tanana Valley Farmers Market this season, we will be participating in this Goldstream Farmers Market from October through April.

Thank you so much for coming to visit us at the farmers market today! Before the opening time (9AM), only a few regular customers were waiting in the line, but all of a sudden, the line ended up longer than we expected. We noticed that a little late, but we decided to limit the number of cake purchases, so if you couldn't get as many as you wanted, we are sorry. We wanted to give as many people as possible a chance to purchase their first choice. I mainly make these special desserts (cakes) to show our appreciation to our customers. (Several people ask about the custom ordering the dessert, but due to limited capacity, we are not taking any custom orders.) Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks to you all, the cakes sold out quickly (by 9:30) and other baked goods also sold out early today (by 12:00). Thank you! 😊

The farmers market itself has only 3 days remaining (September 9th, 12th, and 19th). We will be back at the farmers market on September 19th, Saturday.
