First work meeting order went out last week and even turned into an extra $20 in sales. 🤍
Hoping this is just the beginning and they keep me in mind for future meetings, treats, and coffee mornings. 🫶

Growing up, one of my favorite traditions was baking cinnamon rolls for the last day of school — a dozen for my class and a dozen for the teachers. ❤️

I’ve been baking cinnamon rolls since I was 13, and even though my kids go to a much bigger school now, I still wanted to continue the tradition in my own way.

This year it was muffin boxes for each of their teachers and a box for the office staff to share. Their last day isn’t until Friday, but after working a 10½-hour shift yesterday, I stayed up baking so I could take them to school this morning instead of making the kids haul them on the bus Friday. 😅

And tomorrow I’m still baking for the bus driver because she deserves love too.

Baking has always been my love language. ❤️

Somewhere between the cinnamon rolls, muffin crumbs, kids missing the bus, late work nights, and kitchen chaos… God is still listening. 🤍

Yesterday we found out Tyson passed the IREAD test, so no retesting next year. Last night during prayer he thanked God for helping him pass his test and I about lost it. 🥺

Then tonight we were talking about prayer and how sometimes we have to be specific with what we’re praying for. I was telling him I’ve been praying for a better job with better hours, benefits, flexibility, and more time with them. A little while later he said:

“Mom, I prayed for a job where you can bake because you’re a really good baker.”

And honestly… that one got me. 😭

Little does he know that owning a bakery has been a dream on my heart for years. Sometimes God uses little voices to remind us not to give up on the dreams He planted there in the first place.

So tonight I’m just extra thankful:
For answered prayers.
For growing kids.
For little reminders from God.
And for this sweet little baking journey we’re on together. 🤍

Kitchen is officially closed 🍫🔥

Spent the day recipe testing and tweaking:
• Cinnamon rolls: chef's kiss 🤌🏼10/10 flavor, smell, and look
• Muffins: almost menu ready, just minor tweaks
• Brownie sandwiches: flavor 10/10… presentation/build 4/10 😂

The kids still rated everything 10/10… including the muffin batter they fought over.
Disclaimer: don’t eat raw eggs. Do as I say, not as I do. 😅

Tyson asked me tonight why I don’t work at a bakery.
I told him the dream is either:
• opening my own bakery with a commercial kitchen
or
• a bakery truck 🚚✨

Seriously though, kids are the best taste testers because they’ll be brutally honest. They’ll tell you if something tastes amazing or if it tastes like straight garbage 😂

Can anyone guess this week’s theme? 👀🔥

Back in the kitchen working on sample boxes, recipe testing, and some new menu items after taking a few weeks off.

Work has been super understaffed lately, so I’ve been picking up extra hours… and I was also in the “exhausted for no reason” phase of my cycle. Iykyk 😅

Add my kids catching every sickness possible at the end of the school year and it’s been chaos over here. Anyone else? 😂

But the mixer is back on and the kitchen smells AMAZING today.

If you work with me — or know Steve — be ready for treats tomorrow 🍫🔥🤎

Happy Mother’s Day 💐

I realized I haven’t posted in a few weeks because life has just been… full.

This weekend was a little bit of everything — getting a dozen sample muffins out, attempting mini blueberry muffins (that definitely got overmixed and had way too much liquid 😅), and working on a chocolate muffin recipe for Tyson today.

The blueberry muffins may not have looked bakery perfect, but Alex said they looked like mini mushrooms and honestly she loved them anyway 😂

And the chocolate muffins? SO good. Rich, soft, chocolatey, and definitely one I’ll be making again.

Some weekends are polished. Some are recipe testing, messy counters, and kids sneaking warm muffins off the cooling rack.

But honestly… that’s kind of the heart behind all of this 🤎

My sister made me this tumbler to support my baking business and it honestly means so much 🥹

We’re both starting from scratch right now — me here in Indiana with Colby’s Kitchen Chaos and her starting her business in Ohio — and getting to support each other through it all is something I’ll never take for granted 💕

Small businesses really do grow stronger together 🫶
Go show her some love, she did amazing on this 👏

Happy Easter 🐣✝️
Celebrating Jesus’ resurrection and the reminder of love, grace, and new beginnings 💛

& Happy Birthday to my sweet girl, Alex 🎂

We took a quick 24-hour trip to Tennessee to visit my best friend and her family 🫶
Much needed time, lots of memories… and a little bit of chaos on the way home 😂

Now it’s back to the kitchen this week 👀
Regular baking schedule resumes!

Hey everyone! I realized I’ve never properly introduced myself on here 💛

I’m Heather — the face behind Colby’s Kitchen Chaos.

I’m a single mom of two originally from Ohio. Life didn’t exactly go the way I planned (does it ever?), but every twist kind of led me right here.

I went to culinary school with big dreams… but motherhood came first, so I stepped away before finishing. Instead, I jumped into the food world full-time and took a management position at Bob Evans.

Later on, I stepped down from management to help take care of my mom after she had a stroke — one of those seasons that really changes you. After that, I spent about a year working in a coffee shop, which honestly reignited my love for baking and creating.

Now I’m in Indiana working full-time at Culver’s while building this little business on the side — turning something I love into something bigger than just a hobby.

Everything I make comes from a place of love, chaos, and a whole lot of late nights in the kitchen after work and kids’ bedtime.

If you’ve ordered, supported, liked, shared, or even just followed along — thank you. It truly means more than you know 💛

And if you’re new here… welcome to the chaos 🫶🏻
