Late last week we lost a dear friend. It is with deep sadness that we express our heartfelt sympathy to the family of Don Wright.
Don was a steadfast and loyal friend, and a dedicated and exceptional worker for our family. We were privileged to know Don and his family for more than 75 years, and his connection to our family and the bakery is truly special.
During the 1960s and early 1970s, Don, along with his parents, Bob and Dorothy, and his siblings, Bob, Lana, and Crystal, lived in the front house of the bakery. Don and his family also worked at the bakery for more than a decade, becoming an important part of our bakery family.
In later years, Don and his wife, Kathy, made their home in West Virginia. He even baked his own bread under the name Wrightlini’s for farmer’s markets and his local church. But no matter how many miles separated us, Don always found his way back to the bakery.
Don had a passion for baking bread and making spiedies. Over the past decade, he visited us regularly, sharing his love of baking and, of course, his spiedies. He even entered the Spiedie Fest and won the contest a couple of times! We were so fortunate to have his help at the bakery again over the years and, even more importantly, to share so many laughs and wonderful memories with him and our family.
Today, we want to take a moment to honor our dear friend.
We will miss you, Don. We will never forget your kindness, your wonderful sense of humor, and most of all, your friendship. We are so proud to have known you and your family and to have shared so many unforgettable memories over the years.
Thank you, Don, for your friendship, your hard work, your laughter, and for being such an important part of our family’s story.
Thank you for everything. You will never be forgotten!
