Ive been getting quite a few messages overnight from people asking how my payment issue with the customer from this weekend went. I'm just putting it here, so I don't have to repeat myself 12 times. It's overwhelming my inbox.
I did finally receive payment at 325pm yesterday a full 55.5 hours after pickup with a bunch of pleading to take the post down which i already said i would do if i got paid. Apparently.... the internet showed up for me and lots of people contacted her. I didn't actually expect the amount of comments. So many of those posts get no traction.
Her excuse was "I'm a busy mom. I was going to do it." She was giving "I don't know what the big deal is. I was going to pay eventually" vibes....
First, no. I'm a busy mom. You're busy moms and dads. All my other 1900 followers are busy. They all manage to pay me.
Second, i was actively speaking to her the morning of pickup and she said she was doing it right then. Didn't. Then didn't open a single message for 2 days until you all blew her Facebook up. She said she isn't online much, BUT i am because i work off Facebook. I saw her active in the chat multiple times including yesterday morning. She just wasnt opening my messages. Also, she had answered messages from me every single day that week leading up to pickup, but miraculously disappeared after the cake was picked up and no payment was submitted as she stated. Seems sus, as my son would say.
Third, after "apologizing," she ended by saying she could sue me for defermation. I laughed. Defamation would require a lie not me factually stating what happened with screenshots as proof. I also pointed out that she misspelled "defamation." 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
As a side note, because I do try to be a good human, I had a wonderful woman who read my post yesterday and venmoed me $70. I never asked for that and I burst into tears when I saw it. Not because I'm destitute, but because of the overwhelming kindness. This woman doesn't know me. I've never made her anything. She just wanted to help me 🥹🥹🥹 The world needs more people like her. After I finally got the payment from the client yesterday afternoon, I returned this lovely lady's money with a note of gratitude for her kindness, but I felt it wasn't right to keep at that point. I said I'd love to make her something in the future as a thank you.
This is a business not a hobby. I LOVE what I do and I love the support I get in this community. You all have been amazing. We are a paycheck to paycheck family just like many of you. We have also lost our health insurance recently as many others have and I'm potentially having a medical issue. I've been getting some tests run lately. That $70 may be pennies to people like those clients, but I can assure you it's not pennies to me right now. Home bakers have people try to scam us weekly. It's exhausting. I'm not here for it for one second.
