As I sit back and reflect on where I want to go in the business, I reflect on where I’ve been. The key is to never forget your foundation and to use it as a springboard to your goals and your aspirations. Be inspired by the world around you, be inspired by the talent God put in you, be inspired by the potential gold that lies ahead.

Some of these memories reflect on my grandmother, past events, special moments, and just footnotes to remind myself to always smile regardless of the season. Thankful for everyone who’s supported me during the journey. I’ve come a long way for sure. The best is yet to come, but in the meantime, enjoy YOUR process. 💪🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾

Shoutout to the family in the Midwest. On this particular trip, there were little to no supplies on hand, so everything else was purchased during the visit.

There was no intentions on baking since the mission was to enjoy the city and the state fair but when I hear about the non believers as it pertains to carrot cake, I have to try and convert them! 🤣

A piece or a “slice” of my heart is in the 651 for sure. Thank you for the good vibes and I’ll be seeing you again soon!

Allow me to formally introduce myself. I’m Dominic, baker based in NC, passionate about family, community, sports, music, and peace. We’ve definitely known each other for a while, but I’ve never stopped to tell you briefly who I am and why I do this. If you’re just now tuning in, perfect you’re right on time.

We all have a pastime in our family and one of mine just happens to be my Gma’s carrot cake. When grandma lives a couple of hours away, it’s hard to get a slice whenever it comes to mind. So at some point, I realized if I woke up one day, and really wanted some of her cake, I probably should learn how to make it myself.

I wrote the recipe down and helped her make the cake at least three times before I was brave enough to make it on my own. Seemed like I was making at least one a week. I shared slices of my rendition with my coworkers and not long after that is when the request started to come through. I knew I needed to make it a business going forward.

My Gma’s teachings involved making her own cake plates, manually turning her cakes to decorate, icing the cake with a butter knife, and so much more. I appreciated the things she taught me because they allowed me to experience the patience, the precision, and the love that went into each step. Once her daughters, nieces, and nephews tasted my version and approved, I knew I was officially heading in the right direction.

God created the space for me to do more since those lessons and now I’m gearing up for more!

Shoutout to all the pet owners, fur babies and beyond! We had the opportunity to serve a hamster for his birthday. The order was for a fruit cake, so the process was standard in principle but we had to be specific with the ingredients.

Apparently hamsters can get diabetes pretty easily and you have to avoid things that are pitted. Never would’ve imagined this experience but glad we accepted!
