Swirlz Cupcakes Closed
In a cruel twist of fate and apparently a Facebook glitch (that no one from FB can HELP us with!!) our original post from Monday, February 3, 2020 disappeared with all the raw and heartfelt comments that our customers were kind enough to post. Since some have missed the news, here it is again. And thank you all.
CLOSED
2020 already looks to be a year of changing landscapes. Unfortunately, Swirlz Cupcakes will be included as one of the casualties.
Our last day of business was Saturday, February 1, 2020.
It has been a privilege to be part of the Chicago community of bakeries and the Lincoln Park family of business owners since 2005.
This was not an easy decision for us. With our lease coming to a close, in addition to steeply rising production costs bombarding us from every angle, we were faced with two options: indefinitely raise the cost of our products, effectively pricing out our customers, or decrease the quality of our most special cupcakes and cakes to save money on ingredients. Neither one of those options was acceptable to us. Through the years, Swirlz has always strived to represent integrity, authenticity, innovation and quality, and when faced with a reality that required us to abandon our values to stay in business, we chose to close the doors before letting down our customers.
Thank you Chicago, thank you to our customers from all over the globe, thank you Whole Foods Market, thank you Amazon, thank you valued employees, many who called Swirlz their "home-away-from-home" over the years, and a resounding thank you to the countless charities we have partnered with who offered Swirlz Cupcakes the opportunity to contribute to help make things just a little bit sweeter.
Be kind to each other and remember, cupcakes DO make people happy.
Fond Regards,
Pam Rose and Brandon Mayberry
