We’re back with another residency at the Ravenswood Event Center in October! We will have limited amounts of pre-packaged pastry boxes available for $45/each. Limited to 4 per person.⁠

We’ve been asked what to expect from this new iteration of Del Sur. One of many things we’ve been working on is building an intentional experience for seated service.

While everyone was learning how to make sourdough in 2020, Justin was learning how to throw on a pottery wheel. Since then, you may have noticed some of his pieces available on our retail wall. His latest project is extending that practice into the new space.

With over 10 different pieces for the café side alone, plus the addition of tiles, lamps, and vases for the interior, this project has become a highly rewarding, yet very involved process.

There are many similarities with pottery and baking: the labor behind each step, accounting for loss, and letting go of the idea of perfection, all of which are very important to the ethos of Del Sur.

For Justin, making his own pottery for the bakery is just another expression of the level of care that’s going into making our space feel like yours, too.

While we don’t have a preliminary open date just yet, we’re excited to share that we’ll be doing a two-week residency at the Ravenswood Event Center at the end of this month. After two incredible years of sharing our pastries with you all, today marked our last day at Side Practice Coffee (.coffee). ⁠
⁠
We are beyond grateful to every customer who supported us, bought pastries, and played such an instrumental role in our journey. Without your unwavering support, we wouldn’t have been able to take the next step and open our brick-and-mortar bakery. ⁠

A huge thank you to Francis Almeda (.almeda) for creating a space where so many of us could grow, thrive, and uplift one another. So many businesses like ours owe our success to him. We are also deeply grateful to Maria Meade (), who was the first to believe in us and set up our very first pop-up—she will be joining Del Sur Bakery as our Creative Director, and we couldn’t be more excited! ⁠

To the rest of the Side Practice crew, both past and present, who handled the chaos with such grace—thank you for everything. Your hard work and energy kept us going, day after day. Reflecting on our time at Side Practice, we’ve learned the importance of community and supporting one another and creating space for everyone to grow. ⁠
