It's a lovely Friday for a farmstand visit! We are loaded with fresh goodies today. And, a friendly reminder...we NEVER use seed oils in any product that goes into our farmstand. And we only use organic flours!

Here's what's in stock today:

🍞 Farmhouse sourdough bread, full size and junior loaves, are fully stocked this morning

🥚 Loads of fresh eggs! And, some exciting (eggciting?? 🤣) news! Our newest batch of chickens have just started laying eggs! 🎉 If you begin seeing some beautifully dark brown eggs making their way into the egg containers, you can thank our little Isa Brown ladies.

🪵 Handmade, cedar planters are here for your potted gardening needs. AND new this week are fan trellises! Those are $25 each and fully handmade, too!

We are open til 7pm tonight and open 9am to 7pm tomorrow!

Today's Music Monday post features an ensemble which formed at the same time Sipkje was in grad school at the University of Michigan in the late 2000s. Akropolis Reed Quintet is a Grammy Award winning reed quintet which is made up of five players, an oboe, clarinet, alto saxophone, bassoon, and bass clarinet. The members of Akropolis are wonderful people and Sipkje is honored to have been able to perform together with these same musicians while at Michigan, mostly in the Symphony Band.

This recording is an arrangement of the final movement, Toccata, of Maurice Ravel's work "Le Tombeau de Couperin". This piece was originally composed for piano but is here creatively reimagined for just five performers, an arrangement the members of Akropolis did themselves.

Bill has been busy making something he has talked about doing for years now! Solid wood cedar planters! Handmade, sturdy, made from solid, untreated cedar which is naturally rot and decay resistant. These will last for years! There are currently four 9" tall, four 13" tall, and one 18" tall planter. Discounts available for multiples! Just find Bill to discuss. 😁

Happy Monday! Sipkje here. As many of you have learned from previous posts, in my "former life" I worked as a professional musician, having spent 18 years studying music classically and then another 10 years working as a church musician and music educator. I loved it! And now I am thinking that we will use our Monday posts to share music with you that we enjoy, maybe music made by folks we know personally, or music you may not have come across before but we find to be beautiful and/or interesting.

Let's kick things off with some new music, shall we? This album was released a few months ago by a dear friend of ours, Brian, who lives with his wife and two daughters outside of Lansing, MI. The album, "If You Know, You Know" came about from Brian's witty mind (he wrote all the lyrics except for those for Sit Stand Kneel which were written by his Dad!) and his desire to write music that anyone can listen to. Upbeat, fun, AND clean lyrics.

Our favorites are "Sit Stand Kneel" and "My Sister Has New Saddle Shoes" and for something a bit different "Liar's Moon" is great, too.

Have a listen, let us know what your favorite song is, and think about sharing these songs with friends and family! Brian hasn't asked us to post about his music, we just enjoy it that much!
