Why create a Heritage Cookie?
Because every community has a story worth telling.
For some time now, I have had a desire to create something that celebrates Canal Fulton. Not simply its history, but the heart of the community itself.
Our town is more than historic buildings and familiar landmarks. It is the people who built those places, the families who have called Canal Fulton home for generations, the small business owners who choose to invest here, the volunteers who give their time, the organizations that preserve our history, and the countless individuals who continue working every day to keep our community vibrant and relevant.
That is the heritage I want to honor.
What begins as a personal idea becomes many hours of designing, refining, baking, and hand-finishing until the cookie truly reflects the spirit of our town.
Once the design comes together, I reach out to the Canal Fulton Historical Society because I want this project to honor our community in a way that respects its history.
I am grateful they embraced the idea and chose to share the Heritage Cookie as part of this year’s festival.
My hope is never simply to create another decorated cookie. My hope is that when someone holds this cookie, they see more than a familiar landmark.
I hope they see a community that cares where it came from, takes pride in where it is today, and believes in where it is going.
Heritage is not just what we inherit. It is what we choose to notice, cherish, and pass on.
If this cookie encourages someone to pause, smile, remember a favorite place, support a local business, thank a volunteer, visit the Historical Society, or simply feel a little more pride in calling Canal Fulton home, then it has already accomplished everything I hoped for.
This Heritage Cookie is my small way of saying thank you—to those who came before us, to those who continue investing their time, talents, and hearts into this community, and to everyone who helps make Canal Fulton a wonderful place to live, work, visit, and call home.
