Besties… when I first walked into this home for the consultation, I had NO IDEA there was a beautiful grand piano in this room.
I’m serious.
I couldn’t see it.
Look at that before picture again.
Now look at the after.
THAT piano was underneath there. 😳
And this is another piece of our 25-day whole-home project that I really want people to understand.
When you look at the before picture, don’t just see boxes.
Don’t just see bags, decorations, papers and “too much stuff.”
Look a little deeper.
Sometimes what you’re actually looking at is overwhelm.
Loss.
Getting older.
Years of saying, “I’ll deal with it later.”
Things coming into the house faster than you have the energy to make decisions about them.
Holding onto something because of who gave it to you.
Holding onto something because of who you were when you bought it.
And sometimes simply not knowing how to find your way back once it has gotten this far.
Those feelings have a way of showing up in our homes.
And that’s why I will NEVER believe the answer is walking into someone’s house and saying, “Just throw it all away.”
Because look what was underneath all of this.
A gorgeous piano.
Beautiful hardwood floors.
Collections she loves.
Pieces of a 79-year life that deserve to be seen and appreciated.
The beautiful was there the entire time.
We just had to help her uncover it. 🩵
And believe me, this wasn’t one magical afternoon with some trash bags. 😂 This was one space inside a 25-working-day, whole-home project filled with thousands of decisions, hard days, small victories and a whole lot of patience.
But THIS is why we kept going.
