In art class, still life was one of my favorite subjects. This is an ode to still life, in cake. The deep, moody green is the backdrop for the vibrancy of the jewel toned fruits.
The kiwi is especially essential because although I can't eat them, they're beauty is undeniable.

You don't need to experience something to find beauty in it 💫

Contemporary, modern art. My representation in cake. The ornate piping. The bright flowers in varying heights. All covered in shiny, reflective metal.
And can we talk about the oval shape? 💫

🍑 Summer peach jam, simply made with peaches, sugar, lemon juice & cornstarch 🍑

🧈Nutty brown butter, deeply toasted for the caramel notes 🧈

🍪 Rolled in toasted & buttered sourdough bread crumbs, with a generous slather of peach jam 🍪

🍫 Swirled with pistachio butter & studded with chopped milk & white chocolate 🍫

Bittersweet, white & hazelnut milk chocolate with with bits of toasted & buttered sourdough.
*When browning the butter, I added malted milk powder and used a dash of soy sauce (in lieu of miso) to deepen the umami*
