The FINALE!!!!

Premiering Monday, October 26th at 9pm – “Ancient Rites (That Feel So Wrong)”
Host John Henson leads the bakers into the dark night of the finale! First stop at the Museum of Unnatural History is the Ancient Egypt Collection in the Hall of Humanity, featuring a large sarcophagus. The bakers are inspired to create scary sarcophagus desserts centered around an ingredient they love so much they’d take it into the afterlife. Then, it’s time to bake for all the bones as the final bakers make Ossuary cakes, based on a room in the Hall of Great Wonders covered entirely in human bones. Judges Stephanie Boswell, Aarti Sequeira, and Zac Young select the winner of the final challenge to receive $25,000 and the coveted title of Halloween Baking Champion!

My last submission for NYCC Sugar Collaboration.

I made diner style chicken soup. 10000% edible, from the bowl that has cereal treats inside. The plate and even the pieces of elbow noodles & chicken pieces are all made with fondant plus gum paste. Of course I only use Satin Ice and paint with Colour Mill 🎂 . To give that “shine” I sprayed with glaze plus oil.

I had so much fun making all of my pieces. Can’t wait till next year…

OH MY GAWD!! SEMI-FINAL, here we go!!!!

Premiering Monday, October 19th at 9pm – “Masters of the Macabre”
In the semifinal haunted heat, host John Henson asks the bakers to create macabre oil painting desserts inspired by creepy masterpieces depicting subjects like drooling hounds of hell, a screaming banshee, and a ghost child. Then, the bottom three bakers take on witchy desserts with edible candles to keep their flame alive in the competition. Judges Stephanie Boswell, Aarti Sequeira, and Zac Young send the least successful baker home.

Premiering Monday, October 12th at 9pm – “Doll Trouble”
No one is safe! Host John Henson challenges the remaining six bakers to face off in head-to-head matchups to create demon doll desserts, either Paris-Brest, baked cheesecake, or Swiss roll. Bakers with the same type of dessert face off, and the winner of each matchup is safe. Judges Stephanie Boswell, Aarti Sequeira, and Zac Young pick the overall challenge winner to receive $1,000, and the least successful baker is eliminated.

🍔 Our 3rd Year of “Sugar Collaboration for NYCC”! This year, the theme for Cake, Cookie & Sugar is RETRO DINER, featuring hyper-realistic food and classic diner items!

My submission is a double-decker cheeseburger with onion rings and pickles. And guess what?
EVERYTHING is edible, including the plate! 🤯🍔 Let me take you behind the scenes and share some of the details, challenges, and techniques that went into creating this piece.

🍽️ THE PLATES — What a NIGHTMARE!
I made these plates FOUR TIMES! 😩 The first few attempts just weren’t strong enough, but the final version finally dried hard enough for me to touch and carry around without worrying about breaking it. Made with gumpaste and LOTS of cornstarch, these plates took approximately 2.5 weeks to dry. Definitely a test of my patience!

🧅 ONION RINGS
I used different techniques and layers of gumpaste to create the onion rings, combining layers of dried gumpaste with edible dust, oil, and sugar sand to achieve that realistic, crispy texture. The little details make all the difference!

🍅 TOMATOES
Ahhh, my tomatoes! ❤️ I invested SO much time in these, and I absolutely LOVE how they turned out! I handmade every tiny seed and hand-painted the details. Then, I used piping gel to attach the seeds to the inner flesh of the tomatoes, helping create that realistic, juicy appearance.

Hyper-realism is all about the details. Sometimes, the tiniest elements take the most time, patience, and experimentation. Every texture, every seed, every brushstroke matters.
This project pushed me to experiment, problem-solve, and look at everyday diner food in a completely different way.

Because when you’re an artist, even a cheeseburger can become a work of art. 🎨🍔

ONLY Satin Ice and paint with Colour Mill 🎂 !

FUN FACT! 🎨

Before I became a cake artist, I attended one of the best art schools, School of Visual Arts , where I studied Graphic Design and 3D Design.

I’ve always loved creating with my hands—painting, drawing, sculpting with clay, and even learning how to blow glass and weld while I was in Columbus, Ohio. I wanted to experience all different kinds of hands-on art. But, of course, learning everything takes time. 😅 Eventually, I realized I could combine two things I truly love: art and pastry. 🎂🎨

And after 14 years of creating, experimenting, and learning… here I am. 🥰 Every cake I make is a little piece of my art background brought to life in an edible form.

I’ll be back with Part Two… eventually. 😂🤪

Hi everyone!

I finally got ALL my labels in! 🎉

Lately, we’ve been dealing with a lot of package thefts in our building, and unfortunately, four of my packages were stolen. It’s been incredibly frustrating trying to receive deliveries, especially when I’m not home.

But the wait is finally over! My packages arrived safely, and that means...

✨ New packaging.
✨ New labels.
✨ A new beginning.

I can’t wait to share everything with you. See you all this Sunday! ❤️

Happy baker,
Lisa
