We make pretzels by hand and offer them for sale in our bakery at 1585 Solano Ave in Berkeley. We also teach pretzel making classes.

Zwetschgenkuchen Pretzel - based on the Schwäbische cake Zwetschgenkuchen. It is made with the European variety of prune plums that are smaller and more oval (not round) in shape and contain less water so you can bake with them and not have your baked good get soggy. You will see them in the Bay Area called ‘Italian Sugar Plums’ or ‘French Prunes’ etc. Their season is shorter- late August and early September- hence they are this week’s special.

On this date, August 13, yet way back in 2019, NOSH wrote about us. This is when we were just an infant Pop-Up baking out of the Bread Project and selling at the Kensington Farmers Market and at Breweries and fairs etc.

Of particular note, I would like to call out that our Classic pretzels COST THE SAME TODAY AS THEY DID IN 2019 - 7 years ago!!!! (Accounting for inflation etc we should be selling them for $5.22)

(In the picture above is the Castroville, Classic, Asiago, Funghi Thyme!, Ham & Swiss; Raspberry Ricotta,… (most of which we still offer from time to time)). (We first started selling 11 years ago : August 7, 2015 via foodie start-up Josephine (who were shut down in 2018).
