I had SO much fun making this fun and fabulous Steel Magnolias themed cookie set! From the iconic quotes to the Southern charm, pink everything, and of course, a little tribute to the ladies of Truvy’s Beauty Spot. 💅🏻🌸
And posting these today feels a little more bittersweet. 💔
With the heartbreaking news of Dolly Parton’s passing, it feels only right to give a little extra love to the woman who brought Truvy to life.
Dolly was so much more than an incredible singer, actress, and songwriter. She was known for having a heart just as big as her personality. Her generosity touched so many lives, from her Imagination Library providing millions of free books to children, to her countless contributions to communities, education, healthcare, and disaster relief. 💕📚
And one of the most incredible examples came during COVID. In 2020, Dolly donated $1 million to Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s COVID-19 research, helping fund critical early-stage research connected to the development of Moderna’s vaccine. She didn't do it for recognition. She simply saw a way she could help and put her money where her heart was. ❤️
That feels like such a fitting part of her legacy. She used the success she had been given to give back to others.
So today, these cookies are a little tribute to Dolly, Truvy, and all the Steel Magnolias who reminded us that life is better with friendship, laughter, big hair, and a whole lot of heart. 💗🌸
Rest easy, Dolly. Thank you for the music, the movies, the laughter, the rhinestones, and most importantly, for showing the world what it looks like to have a truly generous heart. 💕✨
