π‘οΈ PROTECT OUR FAIRGROUNDS π‘οΈ
So many of you have already contacted your Alpena County Commissioners, and they now know exactly where we stand on the proposed Blackwater NE deal! (And if you havenβt reached out yet, please do it today, and keep contacting them!)
Now itβs time to elevate our voices to the next level.
We need our state and federal elected officials to hear from Alpena County residents directly about the tangible impacts this long-term lease would have on our public fairgrounds: loss of traditional fair and 4-H access, increased noise and traffic from large-scale concerts and events, strain on local infrastructure, and concerns over rushed procedures and transparency.
Please call AND email the following officials TODAY:

Even 50 calls or emails to any of these offices can make a real difference. Donβt stop after one try, follow up every couple of days with additional facts if you have them. Please, no overtly political comments! These individuals represent us, regardless of party.
Pro tips for maximum impact:
π Start with your connection (βIβm a lifelong Alpena resident / 4-H parent / taxpayer / fairgrounds userβ¦β)
π Stick to specific, tangible harms (noise, traffic, loss of community access, procedural concerns, wildlife sanctuary impacts)
π Stay respectful and fact-based
π Ask them to publicly comment and support protections for our historic fairgrounds
If we all speak up together with clear, grounded concerns, they will have to respond. Together, we will win. As the poet Virgil wrote: βDo not give in to misfortunes, but advance ever more boldly against them.β
And advance we will.
Please SHARE this post and COMMENT "Done" once your called and emailled! Letβs keep the pressure on β our fairgrounds are worth it. β€οΈ
