A place to share your thoughts about the Albemarle Sweet Shop. The Albemarle Sweet Shop has been located on King Ave. since the early 1920's. Our family are the fifth owners of the bakery since its inception.
As a traditional family owned, scratch bakery we take a great deal of pride in making sure that your experience at the bakery is just like you always remembered it. We want you to be able to return to a time in your life when you made wonderful memories. We continue to make many of the Sweet Shop favorites from the past and continue to work to provide new items as well. We hope you will stop in and enjoy some of the best sweets Albemarle has to offer.

Sale Time!!! We have an excess of Cookie Kit bags so we are going to mark them down!!! While supplies last we are going to sell the complete Cookie Kit (4 icing bags and round sugar cookies) for $12 and Icing Bags (purple, orange, pink and yellow) for $1.25 each. Feel free to buy as many bags as you would like to decorate your own items or you can get the complete kit for some tasty weekend fun!!
The passing of another holiday means some Sweet deals at the bakery. These deals won't last long so hurry in so you can save some dough!!!

We are going to join the fun downtown tomorrow!!! We are spending the month of April, Child Abuse Awareness Month, helping out the Butterfly House. We will be donating $1 from the sale of each Butterfly cookie to help the Butterfly House for the entire month. Stop by during the month to help out a great cause and help bring awareness to Child Abuse!!!

We Are Hiring!!! Are you an experienced cake decorator looking for a bakery that will allow you the freedom to express and show your talents? Are you interested in baking in a commercial environment? Are you interested in working in an established, stable family owned business that is expanding into a new location? Do you want to be part of a long standing baking tradition in Stanly County? If you answered yes to these questions than coming to the Albemarle Sweet Shop as a cake decorator/customer service person might be for you. We prefer a full time person but would consider a part time person to help continue the Albemarle Sweet Shop tradition. The bakery hours are Tuesday-Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm and Saturday 8:30am to 2pm. This means no nights, Sundays or Mondays and you have Saturday evening off!! If hired, you will have the full Thanksgiving holiday off as we are closed to be with our families. We are closed Christmas Day and the week after Christmas to be with our families. These days off are paid days off!! We offer other great benefits for our employees. Experience decorating with traditional icing and finishing baked goods is preferred, although we are willing to train the right person. Pay is dependent on experience and abilities. As we move forward on our journey to move into a new building I wanted to share an article that Lewis Bramlett found and sent to us (Thanks Lewis!!). This article and advertisement was published in our local newspaper on August 21, 1959 when the bakery opened in our current location at 128 King Ave. So awesome to see our history and know that we have an exciting future ahead of us!!!
Bakery Update: Thank you to everyone that has shown their support for our upcoming move. We are working hard to get the new Albemarle Sweet Shop built and hope to have dirt moving by June! We are thrilled to have LKC Engineering on board to help us layout our site as our civil engineering team. It is taking longer than we hoped but today was awesome as we were provided renderings of what the new bakery is going to look like. We will have more changes as we move forward but this will give everyone a good idea of what the new bakery will look like. Wow, what a difference in where we are now and where we will be later this year!! Thanks P F architecture for your hard work!!
We will be feeling the luck of the Irish for the next couple of weeks at the bakery as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day!!!
We have done lots of tasting and adjusting to bring our new Whoopie Pie product line on board this week. We have rolled out our first four flavors to see how you guys like them. If you guys like these we will begin testing new flavors and see where the Whoopie Pie line goes!!! Our first four flavors are: Red Velvet, Mint Chocolate, Lemon and Chocolate. If you are a fan of Thin Mint cookies then the Mint Chocolate Whoopie pie is going to be right up your alley!!! Swing by and give them a try then let us know what you think.
We have been hard at work this week getting a few new products created and available for purchase!!! We are going to carry a few varieties of Danish on a regular basis. The available flavors will change, although we can make you any of them if you give us a days notice. We will be carrying the following flavors on a rotating basis: Raspberry, Lemon, Cherry, Apple, Cheese, Cherry/Apple, Raspberry/Lemon, Cherry/Cheese, Raspberry/ Cheese, and Raspberry/Cheese. We hope everyone enjoys this new addition as much as we have!! These products hanging around totally depends on your love for them!!
Warmer weather means we are putting away the apples and bringing out the peaches!! Our Peach Cobbler Pies are ready in our regular and mini sized pies. Swing by for a taste of Spring!!!

Piedmont Natural Gas is doing gas line work in our parking lot this week. We are open as usual but getting to us may require you to park in the lower parking lot. More exercise means more cookies!!!
