Some things lately have simply been made out of craving, curiosity, and the joy of making.

Salted vanilla cream bun — my take on the Korean milk cream buns I’ve been craving.

A small pause, for now.

Over the coming weeks, Gaily Bakes will be taking a little pause as I step into a new chapter personally and settle into a different season.

Truthfully, this arrived a little more unexpectedly than I had imagined, which is why sharing this comes with a heavier heart than expected.
We will be taking a short hiatus from 01 June onwards.

Gaily Bakes isn’t going anywhere.

If anything, I hope this season gives me more room to gather ideas, experiment again, and reconnect with the part of baking I’ve missed.

There may still be the occasional flash sale, little bake drop, or surprise when time allows, so do keep an eye on Stories and your inbox.

For gifting, larger orders, and small celebrations, custom and bulk enquiries will remain open where schedules allow.
As everything at Gaily Bakes continues to be made in small batches, a lead time of 2–3 weeks would be greatly appreciated.

You may still reach out via the website contact form or email for custom enquiries. Replies may take a little longer during this season, but I’ll always do my best to get back as soon as I can.

Thank you for being here through every season of Gaily Bakes. I’m incredibly thankful for every bit of support, kindness, and encouragement throughout this journey.

Hoping to reconnect again sometime soon, whether through a little bake drop, surprise here and there, or simply when things have settled into a new rhythm.

Didn’t expect bread to be the thing pulling me in lately.

Genmaicha × Mentaiko
warm, savoury, and gently toasted.

A first attempt, with plenty of second-guessing and reminders to trust the process.

Charcoal Pineapple Tart
If you’ve been with us since CNY 2021, this might feel familiar — but its story goes back to 2015.

Adapted from my Peranakan grandma’s recipe, it was the very first Gaily Bakes product.
I paused baking in 2017 and returned in 2020, but this tart never left my hands.

Each year might bring a small tweak, but the rich, buttery base and spiced Sarawak Nonya pineapple paste stay the same.

Now available in a trio of flavours:
Roasted Japanese soybean, Naoki ceremonial grade matcha, and Valrhona cocoa.

We’ve also made subtle refinements to the cookie shape and salt finish, building on what everyone loved from last year’s edition.

Our final drop of the year — a celebration in red and green.
Holiday flavours like peppermint, chocolate, cranberry, and toffee, and of course, a little alcohol for the festive mood.
Some things change each year, but this theme has stayed with us since the beginning.

We hope the bakes brought comfort and joy to your Christmas table.
