Workplace Insights | Could Your People Name Your Organisation’s Values?

Most organisations have values.

But if you asked your people to name them - without looking them up - could they?
And, perhaps more importantly, could they explain what those values actually look like in everyday behaviour?

Values are most useful when they're more than words on a website or wall. They can help shape how people behave, how leaders make decisions, and what gets recognised or addressed in the workplace.

Sometimes a senior manager doesn't need someone to make the decision for them.

They need someone independent enough to listen, ask useful questions, offer another perspective - and challenge their thinking when that's needed.

And those conversations don't always fit neatly into an HR box. They might be about leadership, culture, business priorities, relationships, risk - or simply something about running the business that's keeping them awake at night.

Ultimately, the decision is still theirs. Good support doesn't take away a senior manager's authority. It helps them exercise it well.

A little planning now - and clear communication with your team - can save a lot of last-minute stress later.
