Greater visibility starts with traceability.

Traceability to Plantation (TTP) helps strengthen transparency across the oil palm supply chain and provides greater visibility into the origins of the raw materials we source.

In 2025, Apical achieved 99.98% TTP for crude palm oil and 100% TTP for crude palm kernel oil, up from 99.81% and 99.71% respectively in 2024.

By working closely with suppliers, we continue to strengthen traceability and support more transparent, responsible supply chains.

Transparency starts with knowing where our raw materials come from and understanding how we work with our suppliers.

For Apical, it also means identifying where improvements are needed, working with our suppliers, and being open about our progress.

This commitment to greater transparency is reflected in our SPOTT (Sustainability Policy Transparency Toolkit) score, which rose from 93.3% in 2024 to 95% in 2025.

Supporting a more sustainable palm oil industry takes continuous improvement. That's why we're proud to improve our score on the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Shared Responsibility Scorecard from 8.3 in 2024 to a perfect 10/10 in 2025.

The RSPO Shared Responsibility Scorecard assesses how RSPO members implement their commitments to support sustainable palm oil. It evaluates areas such as transparency and legality, social responsibility, environmental stewardship, and responsible sourcing.

This achievement was also recognised with the RSPO Shared Responsibility Award at the RSPO Annual Conference 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

What makes a pastry flaky, a spread smooth, or a confectionery filling melt just right?

At Apical Innovation Centre (AIC), Felicia Kusnakhin and Sofyan Dwi Jayanto bring complementary expertise to the development process.

“Even ingredients with similar technical specifications can perform differently in the final product. My role is to help ensure each development is compliant, properly documented, and validated through sensory evaluation,” says Felicia, Product Coordinator & Compliance at AIC.

Working closely with Felicia, Sofyan, from Process & Technology Development, conducts process research and establishes proof of concept to assess whether a technology can perform efficiently and cost-effectively at plant scale.

By connecting product validation with process scale-up, they help turn technical findings into practical solutions that deliver the intended qualities people can see, taste, and feel.

Achieving RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification helps independent smallholders access sustainable markets and create more opportunities to improve their livelihoods.

Through SMILE (Smallholder Inclusion for Better Livelihood and Empowerment), our collaborative programme with Asian Agri and Kao Corporation, 2,834 independent smallholders are now RSPO-certified, more than double the 1,370 certified in 2024. This milestone brings us more than halfway towards our Apical2030 goal of supporting independent smallholders to achieve RSPO certification.

Responsible palm oil starts with clear action across the supply chain. In 2025, Apical engaged all 445 active supplying mills, contributing to nearly 100% traceability to plantation for crude palm oil and 100% traceability for crude palm kernel oil and palm kernel.

Through the Smallholder Inclusion for Better Livelihood & Empowerment programme, developed with Kao Corporation and Asian Agri, Apical also continues to help independent smallholders adopt more sustainable farming practices and work towards certification.

These efforts in supplier engagement, traceability, and smallholder empowerment contributed to Apical receiving the Sustainable Supply Chain Partnership Award at the ESGBusiness Awards 2025.

Investing in teachers is one of the most effective ways to support children's education. Recently, Apical partnered with Tanoto Foundation to deliver a two-day training programme for 27 teachers from Marunda 03 Pagi Public Elementary School in Jakarta.

The programme strengthened literacy and numeracy teaching methods for early-grade classrooms, equipping teachers with practical strategies they can apply in their daily lessons.
