✅✍️ DONE DEAL: ACHIEVE client and Southend United Football Club defender Gus Scott-Morriss has made the move into the EFL, signing for Oldham Athletic from The Shrimpers.
Scott-Morriss, 29, has penned a two-year contract with The Latics, having scored 17 goals from right wing-back last season for a second successive season.
Last season, Scott-Morriss made 46 appearances in all competitions, his 17 goals and four assists helping Southend United to the play-offs, where they were beaten by Scunthorpe United.
The highest scoring defender in world football for two seasons running, Scott-Morriss had a seven-year spell with Royston Town before joining Hemel Hempstead Town in 2021 and then moving on to Southend United a year later.
Whilst at Roots Hall, he helped the club to win last season’s FA Trophy, scoring the winning penalty at Wembley Stadium earlier this month against Wealdstone, whilst also leading the club to the play-off final in 2024-2025, where they were ironically beaten at Wembley Stadium by Oldham Athletic.
The move to Boundary Park marks Scott-Morriss’ first move into the Football League and he will be hoping to help the club gain promotion in his first season with The Latics.
In total, Scott-Morriss made 162 league appearances for Southend United, scoring 45 goals.
Congratulations on your move, Gus, and this new exciting chapter in your career from everyone at ACHIEVE.
