Closure of Sol

As you know we opened this week Monday-Wednesday to see if we can give the shop one last push and we’ve also had an interview with the news on where we sit with Sol right now.

Unfortunately the councils response on the matter is that they can’t help us so unfortunately that means that we’re very sadly closing our doors.

The last few days has brought a wave of new issues such as
1- having to go to the shop for bottles of water to boil and wash our pots In. As we received no warning that the water works going on around the shop would make our water look like this.
2- having the shop blocked off so badly that 2 ladies couldn’t even get their pram through the door
And all the usual blockages and parking warden issues that we’ve been facing anyway for the past couple of months.

We are however looking at moving Sol online and currently moving on to a second location but more will be shared on that soon.

And while we do understand that the area around Sol will look much better upon the completion of the road works, there’s no way we can continue to function when this is the cause of zero footfall and custom, no parking and the shop being blocked off by vans and wagons on a daily basis.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and are very grateful for your continued support.

🤎 An update from Sol

While we’re still navigating a few challenges with our Rotherham store, we hate to see the shop sat empty, so we’ve decided to reopen on a limited menu and reduced hours for the time being.

Starting next week, you’ll be able to pop in for:

☕ Coffee
🍵 Matcha
🍰 A selection of our most popular sugar-free, wholefood bakes

Monday–Wednesday | 9am–2pm

Unfortunately, this does mean our bowls won’t be on the menu for now, but that does mean there will be a variety of your favourite bakes available daily 🤎

After some careful consideration, we’ve made the decision to close the shop for the next couple of weeks.

We feel this is the best decision for us right now. Footfall through town has unfortunately dropped to almost zero, and with the ongoing roadworks and the amount of wagons and lorries directly outside our door, we also don’t feel we can guarantee the safest or easiest access for our customers at the moment.

It’s been a difficult process watching our shop go from being full from 8–2, with queues out of our door, to where we are now. But we’re going to use the next couple of weeks to take a step back, explore our alternative options and look into what support is available to us. We’ll also be putting the finishing touches to our online website, where you’ll still be able to order all your favourite sugar-free bakes and drinks straight to your door 🤎

Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be making some big decisions about the future of Sol — whether that means eventually closing our doors here and looking for a new venue outside of Rotherham, or moving completely online.

We’re so sorry for the uncertainty around our opening and closing schedule recently. It’s not been an easy decision, but we really appreciate everyone who has continued to support us, check in on us and cheer us on 🫶🏼

We hope to see you again in a couple of weeks, and we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.

If you’ve visited Sol over the last couple of months, you’ll have seen the roadworks surrounding the shop. Unfortunately, these have made parking increasingly difficult for both our customers and staff.

Over the last few weeks, myself and members of my team have also received multiple parking tickets, and unfortunately it simply isn’t viable for us to park at Forge Island and pay for a full day of parking every day.

We’re also facing the ongoing issue of our doors being blocked daily by vans and wagons. This has resulted in daily calls and complaints from customers who believe we are closed, despite us being open during our advertised hours.

As a small, independent business, the lack of support and the ongoing disruption are having a very real impact on Sol. We are doing everything we can to keep things running, but unfortunately the current situation is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain.

Because of this, over the next month or so we’ll be looking carefully at what the best option is for Sol moving forward. This may mean relocating outside of Rotherham, or potentially moving Sol online, where we could offer our sugar-free bakes through pre-order, delivery and collection.

This isn’t a decision we’re taking lightly, and we’ll of course keep you updated every step of the way.

In the meantime, if you do visit Sol, we hope you enjoy your visit and continue to support our little business. 🤎

💛 Another little update from Sol

Unfortunately, due to me being away in Cornwall and staff illness back at Sol, we’ve made the decision to keep Sol closed for the rest of this week.

This means we will now be closed Tuesday 11th – Sunday 16th August, and we will be back open as normal from Monday 17th August.

We’re so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and we really appreciate your patience and understanding at this time.

Thank you so much for bearing with us throughout August while I’ve taken some time away to get married 🤍 and as we continue working on some very exciting plans for the future of Sol… 🤫

💛 A little update from Sol

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Sol will unfortunately not be opening tomorrow, Monday 10th August.

We are hoping to be back open as normal on Tuesday 11th August, but if anything changes, we’ll update you as soon as possible.

Thank you so much for bearing with us throughout August while I’ve taken some time away to get married in Cornwall 🫶🏼🏄🏽‍♀️ and as we work behind the scenes on some very exciting plans for our Sol rebrand… 🤫✨

☀️ Just a little heads up! ☀️

We’ll be closed on the dates shown in the photo throughout August while we have our wedding in Cornwall 🏄🏽‍♀️🤍 and enjoy a little getaway at the end of the month. 🫶🏼

Apart from these dates, we’ll be open as normal throughout August.

Our opening hours will also be changing to 8am–2pm, Monday–Saturday (previously 7am–2pm).

A little update on our Sunday openings 🫶🏼

Our second Cinnamon Bun Sunday was another sell out! And we can’t wait to see you all this Sunday for our new flavours we’ve just announced 🤎

As we’ll be away getting married in August 💍, Sunday 26th July will be our last Sunday opening for a little while, before Sol returns to its usual opening hours:
