Itโ€™s not very often I get to bake my own cake, but with a little gap in orders, I had the chance to create one for my Husband and I to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. ๐Ÿ‘ฐโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿคตโ€โ™‚๏ธโค๏ธ

I had no clear idea of what I wanted this one to look like when I started โ€” which is very unlike me! ๐Ÿ˜‚

I couldnโ€™t decide whether I preferred a buttercream-covered cake or a sugar-paste/fondant decorationโ€ฆ so I ended up having a little bit of both! ๐Ÿ˜

And please take a moment to appreciate what the inside of a Baking Maid cake looks like! ๐Ÿ‘€

Itโ€™s something I donโ€™t often get to see once your cakes leave my kitchen, so I really enjoyed cutting into this one and seeing all those layers! ๐Ÿฐ

Iโ€™m so pleased with how it all turned out!

If youโ€™re celebrating a special occasion and would like a bespoke cake of your own, please do get in touch - Iโ€™d love to hear your ideas and create something special for you. ๐Ÿ’•

โœจ A little something different from The Baking Maidโ€ฆ โœจ

A rich, alcohol-infused fruit cake was requested to celebrate Robโ€™s 80th Birthday in Cornwall this week ๐ŸŽ‰

Fruit cake isnโ€™t something I get asked to make very often, so it was a real pleasure to dig out the traditional family Christmas cake recipe , (yes I know itโ€™s July), and create something a little different.

This cake was first covered in a layer of marzipan and then finished off with smooth, luxury white fondant and shimmering-blue personalisation.

Sometimes, itโ€™s the classic designs that make the biggest impact. ๐Ÿ’™

Are you a fruit cake fan?
Or prefer sponge cake ?

It may be the end of the football season for someโ€ฆ

But not for Rocky who is celebrating his 12th birthday here in Mousehole, Cornwall.

I absolutely loved creating these personalised, football themed cupcakes !
Any guesses as to which football team Rocky supports ?

And why have 1 flavour, when you can have 3โ€ฆ!

Are you, or do you know anyone that is celebrating an event in Cornwall?
Please do get in touch as Iโ€™d love to create something special for you!

A bit of a personal, sentimental post todayโ€ฆ ๐Ÿฅน

If youโ€™ve been following The Baking Maid journey, youโ€™ll already know that I lost my Mum last year.

If it wasnโ€™t for my Mum, there would be no Baking Maid !

She taught me to bake from a very early age, encouraged me every step of the way, and passed on the skills and love of baking that I still carry with me today.

Losing her, changed my world completely!
For a while, I felt like Iโ€™d lost my identity and my passion for baking.
But with true grit and determination, whilst navigating my way through grief, I found my way back to doing what I love. ๐Ÿฐ

Every cake I bake, every cupcake I decorate, and every celebration Iโ€™m trusted to be part of, is because of my Mum and everything she taught me.

Your support means the world to me too though !
Whenever you order from my little business, please know that no bake leaves my kitchen without a little love inside. โค๏ธ

Happy Heavenly Birthday, Mum.

Thank you for making me the baker I am today!
I promise to carry your legacy and your love on, in every bake I create. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฆ‹
