Birthday Cake Recipe ( 8 inch Square)

Stork or Spread (match to egg weight)
Granulated Sugar (match to egg weight)
5 Medium Eggs (weighed in the shells)
Self Raising Flour (match to egg weight)

- Pre heat oven to 165c fan oven/185 electric/Gas Mark 4. Weigh your mixing bowl and jot down the weight for later.

- Weigh your eggs in their shells. What ever this number is will be the quantity you need of all the other ingredients.

- Cream together the Sugar and spread/Stork until light and fluffy/well combined

- Add in 2-3 eggs and half of your flour and mix until combined.

- Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula. Add the Remaining Flour and Eggs and Mix until well combined. Be careful not to over mix. Mixing until just combined will assure a light and fluffy sponge rather than a tight dense one.

- Weigh your bowl full of the cake mix and subtract the weight of the bowl. Then divide by two and split this between two 8 inch square tins.
- Bake in the oven for 30-35 mins or until a skewer comes out clean.

Buttercream
350g Salted Butter
750g Icing Sugar
Splash of milk or warm water

- Allow the butter to come to room temperature. Cut it into cubes and mix it on a high speed for 6-8mins until it resembles smooth and pale whipped cream.
- Add in the icing sugar a little at a time and mix until fully incorporated.
- You can add more/less icing sugar to your own taste or a little splash of water/milk to loosen the buttercream if it’s too thick.

To cover the cake you will need approximately 1kg of roll out icing and 75-100g grams of Jam of your choice for the filling.

Good evening guys! How gorgeous was our cake counter on Saturday!? Here’s a little pic from our POV

I’m here to remind you this week we will be sharing some recipes using gluten free ingredients to raise awareness for coeliac disease. Although we can’t make certified gluten free bakes we will be offering a one off box on Friday/Saturday that will be made using naturally gluten free ingredients. And those that can’t buy from us due to allergies can follow the recipes at home to create your own versions.

We wouldn’t recommend this box for ceoliacs due to cross contamination but as we have so many customers following a gluten free diet who have requested some bakes made with gluten free ingredients we will be doing this as a one off.

The box will be filled with hidden kitchen classics so if you are following a gluten free diet or are a budding baker keen to try the difference between regular and gluten free ingredients then you can pre order via our website!

Hope that makes sense! Please contact us before purchasing if you are unsure of anything! ♥️♥️

The website is live for this weeks orders ♥️

Good Morning! I just needed to show you today’s cake selection! 😍😍 woweeee. As it’s a bit warmer I would recommend putting any sponges into an airtight container to keep them fresh as they dry out quicker when it’s warm especially!

We’re open 10-3pm today! We’ve got loads of cheesecakes in the fridge!

AND we’re doing a walk in offer today!

2 COOKIES & 2 BROWNIE/BLONDIES - £12 ♥️
