Iceland poppies remain one of my absolute favourite flowers and I always love making them. Growing them in the garden is still a work in progress though although I am close to succeeding this year so watch this space!

In the meantime, I will always have my sugar ones. If you would like to learn how to make them too, comment “Poppy” and I will send you a link for 20% off the online class.

What’s your thoughts on Iceland poppies? Are you a fan like me?

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a cake on here but I had 2 lovely weddings this weekend. First up was this aged stone and drapery number finished with dramatic dark orchids. This is the orchid from my most recent Moth Orchid class simply switched up with a painted finish using aubergine, plum and a touch of burgundy. I really love how they turned out and hope you do too!

I have been very quiet on the grid for a little while. There’s a lot of juggling going on behind the scenes. Firstly family life and school holidays, teaching some lovely students, job applications, volunteering work, prep for upcoming weddings, knee physio and when a short window allows, getting out into my own garden. This lovely bunch of tulips came from the garden and I’ve been admiring them on the kitchen table for the last week. Yesterday is the day when they started bringing the drama though so it was time to photograph them and slip a few sugar flowers in for good measure. It’s not too late to join next week’s group workshop which includes my reflexed tulip if you let me know ASAP! Hope you have all had a lovely Easter break ###

Some flowers age so gracefully. I have some tulips on my kitchen table that I can’t bear to throw away even though they would be considered “past it”. I love the elegance of the fading colours, the curling edges, the tinges of brown. The coral charm peony is another one of these flowers. Fading from vibrant coral to apricot and ivory, it’s a pleasure to watch at all stages of life. I will be teaching this faded coral charm at my April group workshop. There’s still space to join so message me me for details 💞

I’m very much enjoying my hellebores in the garden at the moment. I planted lots more last year but as tiny plants so it will be a few years before they really get going. However, the best ones I have were gifted to me by my mum not long after we moved in. They provide me with a little lift every time I walk past them on the way to the studio. If you would like to learn how to make hellebores from cold porcelain and have a creative play with some of the first Spring flowers, then you must join and myself for a beautiful floral workshop on March 22nd-23rd. Get in touch if you would like more details 💚
