BIG ANNOUNCEMENT I have extremely mixed emotions sitting down to write this post. This cake was from the weekend, a glorious wedding at one of my all time favourite venues, Hedsor House, and like many of the weddings I’ve had the pleasure of working at this year, it was long awaited so huge congratulations to J&S!
But it was a truly momentous cake because it is the last one that I will be making for the foreseeable future as Blossom & Crumb. For a number of reasons, some pandemic and current climate related but mostly personal, I have taken the incredibly difficult decision to put the business on hold for the forseeable future. I hesitate to say that I am closing for good because I am going to keep the door open slightly while I explore what my professional future might hold. I still love making cakes with a passion and have cherished every wedding that I have been invited to play a part in. The connections that I have made with my couples have brought me so much joy and the thought of making this moment absolutely final doesn’t feel right just yet. The likelihood though, if I am honest, is that I won’t be returning to making wedding cakes.
I am so proud of everything I have achieved with the business. I look back and can’t quite believe how quickly it came into being. I am still so honoured to have been chosen to make cakes for so many incredible events. But the weekends and long hours have taken their toll on family life and it is time to get some balance back.
Thank you so, so much to everyone who has ordered a cake from me and to each and every one of you who has followed my journey. Thank you to the venues who have been kind enough to recommend me. Also to my wonderful cake and wedding industry friends and colleagues without whom I wouldn’t have made it this far. I am not planning to disappear from here altogether as I will still be making cakes for pleasure but if you want to stay in touch then you’ll mostly find me on my other account .
