🍂🥣 Soup season is nearly here… and we couldn’t be more excited!

From next week, soup is officially back at Sour Power Bakery 💛

We’ll be making one soup flavour each week, served with freshly baked sourdough and some weeks, it may even be served in one of our sourdough bread bowls 🫢

Just like last year, we’ll have vegan soups too 🌱 and we’ll switch up the flavour every week, so there’ll always be something different to look forward to.

Good news… we’re feeling a little better today! ❤️

The mixers are on, the flour is flying everywhere, and we’re so excited for tomorrow to have the shelves full of fresh sourdough bread and the counter packed with delicious savoury and sweet pastries, alongside all of our cakes!
We’ve had quite a few customers ask if they can grab a takeaway hot drink during Bread Hatch hours, so we’re going to give it a try!

Unfortunately, we won’t be reopening tomorrow as planned and will instead reopen on Friday.

We’re both unwell and, despite coming into the bakery this morning and trying to get as much prep done as we could, we’ve had to accept that our health needs to come first.

The difficult side of being such a small business is that when illness or unexpected difficulties arise, we simply don’t have a team who can step in and run things in our place.

We’re so sorry for the change of plans and really appreciate your understanding 💛See you Friday!

Annual Leave Reminder 🏖️
Next week will be our last week open before we head off on our annual leave.

Our bread hatch will be open as usual from 5:30am–9:00am, and our regular opening hours haven’t changed; we’re open until 3:00pm.

We’ll be baking extra loaves, so it’s the perfect time to stock up! Our Sourdough Bread freezes beautifully, whether you freeze it whole or sliced, so you can enjoy it while we’re away.

And if you’re worried about withdrawal symptoms… don’t panic! Some of our pastries and cakes freeze really well too. Just ask us which ones freeze best, and you can stash a few away to enjoy while we’re on holiday 😁

It’s already been 4 weeks since we launched our Bread Hatch! 🥖

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported us. The feedback has been amazing, and it’s been great to welcome new customers who couldn’t make it to us before.

Because of this, we’ve been selling out of bread by around 11am–12pm, so we’ll be baking more each day. As everything is made fresh, we can’t predict demand exactly, so there will still be days when we sell out of certain sourdough flavours or even all of our bread.

Another hot week is on the way, so the air conditioning will be on to keep the bakery nice and cool. We’ll have our popular brewed iced tea, along with our freshly baked seasonal fruit buns 🍓

‼️Annual Leave: We’ll be taking our annual leave from Tuesday 28th July to Saturday 1st August. Meaning our last day open will be Saturday 26th July to 3pm , and we’ll reopen on Thursday 6th August from 5:30am.

Well the feedback about our Bread Hatch has been amazing! 🌾

Many of you have told us how convenient it is for morning dog walks, school runs, and picking up a fresh loaf before work. That’s exactly why we created it, so we’re delighted it’s proving so popular.

Although we’re no longer open on Wednesdays, the addition of the Bread Hatch actually means we’re open for more hours overall than before, giving you even more opportunities to get your hands on fresh sourdough and pastries.

We’re busy in the bakery today making cakes, preparing doughs, and getting everything ready for the week ahead.

Thank you for all your support! We can’t wait to see you at the hatch from 5:30am tomorrow! 🥖

🥖 THE BREAD HATCH IS NOW OPEN! 🥖
Many of you have told us that you can’t always visit during our regular opening hours due to work and other commitments, so we’ve come up with a way for you to get your hands on our freshly baked sourdough even earlier!

From 5:30am every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, you’ll be able to buy sourdough loaves straight from the oven, along with any pastries that are ready.

Simply ring the bell and we’ll come out to serve you. Please bear with us if there’s a short wait; we may be in the middle of baking, taking more loaves out of the oven, or have our hands covered in dough and need a moment to wash them.

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Bread Hatch and see you bright and early!

🎉 WE’RE OPEN TODAY 🎉

After yesterday’s unexpected closure due to the ceiling collapse, we’re pleased to let everyone know that we have dealt with the immediate situation and the bakery is safe to operate.

Our ovens are on, we’re busy baking, and we’ll be ready to open our doors at 10:00am today.

While we are still experiencing some difficulties as we continue to deal with the aftermath of the incident, we’ll do our very best to make the serving process as smooth as possible. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding if there are any slight delays.

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and kind messages of support while we worked through the emergency. It means a lot to us as a small business.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE ⚠️

We regret to inform our customers that the bakery will be closed today due to an emergency.

A section of the ceiling has collapsed into the bakery, and there are further ceiling tiles that remain unstable and at risk of falling. As a result, there are significant safety concerns as electrics and water is involved.

The safety of our staff and customers is our absolute priority, and therefore we are unable to open or operate until the building has been made safe and fully assessed.

We understand this will be disappointing and apologise for the inconvenience, but this situation is completely beyond our control.

We will provide updates as soon as we know more and will keep everyone informed on when we are able to reopen.
