🎉 WE’RE OPEN TODAY 🎉

After yesterday’s unexpected closure due to the ceiling collapse, we’re pleased to let everyone know that we have dealt with the immediate situation and the bakery is safe to operate.

Our ovens are on, we’re busy baking, and we’ll be ready to open our doors at 10:00am today.

While we are still experiencing some difficulties as we continue to deal with the aftermath of the incident, we’ll do our very best to make the serving process as smooth as possible. We kindly ask for your patience and understanding if there are any slight delays.

Thank you all for your patience, understanding, and kind messages of support while we worked through the emergency. It means a lot to us as a small business.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTICE ⚠️

We regret to inform our customers that the bakery will be closed today due to an emergency.

A section of the ceiling has collapsed into the bakery, and there are further ceiling tiles that remain unstable and at risk of falling. As a result, there are significant safety concerns as electrics and water is involved.

The safety of our staff and customers is our absolute priority, and therefore we are unable to open or operate until the building has been made safe and fully assessed.

We understand this will be disappointing and apologise for the inconvenience, but this situation is completely beyond our control.

We will provide updates as soon as we know more and will keep everyone informed on when we are able to reopen.

To our lovely customers 💛

From June onwards, the bakery will only be open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

As many of you know, it is only me and Mum baking every single product you see in the bakery. Nothing is bought in, everything is handmade from scratch every day.

For the past year we have been working extremely long hours every week with only 1 day off, and the truth is we are completely burnt out. We’ve reached the point where we need a better balance and more time with our family and lives outside of the bakery.

In order to continue baking everything to the standard we’re proud of, we’ve made the difficult decision to reduce our opening days to 3 days a week.

Even though the bakery will now be open 3 days a week, that won’t stop us creating new pastries, cakes and specials for you all. We’ve already been testing some new sandwich options perfect for brunch, and we’d love for you to come in and try them once they officially hit the menu 🥪

And don’t worry, Soup of the Week will be back from September too, we know many of you are missing it already! 🍲

We truly appreciate all of your support and understanding, and we can’t wait to continue welcoming you in on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 🫶

Billy’s Wooodland Eggs are now available at Sour Power Bakery🥚
Anyone who knows me personally will know I used to have my own chickens before we opened the bakery and how much I loved and cared about them meaning I would never buy eggs from caged hens. This is why for all our cakes, pastries & egg mayo we use Free range eggs from a local farm in Stow on the Wold 📍 These are now available for you to buy alongside your loaf of freshly baked sourdough and a delicious pastry ☺️

After a very long Saturday running the bakery and also being at the Polish Heritage Day with our stall, we’ve decided to take one extra rest day this week.

We’ll be open Thursday to Saturday this week instead.

One whole year of our little bakery 🥖

It’s officially been a year since me and Mum opened our doors, and what a journey it’s been. Starting your own business, especially in hospitality, is never easy, and doing it on a very tight budget made it even more challenging. But we did it.

We honestly couldn’t have done any of this without my incredible Dad. He completely transformed what used to be an old charity shop into the space you see today. From ripping up carpets, painting ceilings, knocking down and building walls, plastering, painting, laying laminate and vinyl flooring, building our 6m counter from scratch, to handling electrics, plumbing, levelling the floors and pouring concrete;
he did everything for us (and so much more). We are endlessly grateful 🙏🏽

A huge thank you as well to my boyfriend Kacper, who has always been there whenever we needed help, and to our amazing friends for all their constant support. It truly means everything to us.

Over the past year, we’ve met so many wonderful people. Customers who walked in as strangers and are now familiar, friendly faces we look forward to seeing. Your support means more to us than you know, and we truly appreciate every single one of you 💛

Mum has always wanted a place of her own, somewhere she could bake everything from scratch and share it with others and she’s absolutely made that a reality. From her pastries and cakes to her soups (which we know many of you love!), it’s all made with years of experience, care, and genuine passion.

We put our heart and hard work into everything we make, and we hope you can taste that in every bite.

From a very chaotic first opening day a year ago, to yesterday, where we managed to bake for the bakery and also be part of the Polish Heritage Day in Market Square, it really shows how far we’ve come. It was a great day, so thank you to everyone who supported us there as well.

Here’s to growing, improving, and hopefully reaching even more people who appreciate proper, good food.

We’re back from our short break and back in the kitchen, getting stuck into baking all your favourites again with a few new things on the way 😋
