Sunday Assembly Edinburgh

Sunday Assembly Edinburgh The Sunday Assembly in Edinburgh is a secular congregation that meets to hear great talks, sing songs and generally celebrate the wonder of life.

Sunday Assembly Edinburgh is part of the international Sunday Assembly movement of wonder and good. We are a 'secular congregation' which means it's a bit like church but no God or religion. We have assemblies generally on the first Sunday of the month, at LifeCare Edinburgh in Stockbridge. We tend to have around 30-70 people attending, and the assemblies last an hour. They typically include some

congregational singing of well-known uplifting pop songs accompanied by the house band, some gorgeous poetry, a stimulating talk, cake, and a chance to chat with others. We are free to attend, and family and dog friendly - there is a kids table for colouring, Lego etc and a dog bowl along with coffee and tea. If you want to receive updates, please like this page and come along! "I’m so thankful to have recently heard of Sunday Assembly and now to have joined. It’s just what I think has been missing for me and everyone is so welcoming and friendly. I’m loving it." Jacqui, new member 2023

Jenny Clarke writes:

We were delighted to see Katie Hunter from Educators for Peace on Sunday. She was a speaker at the February Assembly this year. She told us about some of the hassle they ‘re getting and this morning I sent a donation of £100 on our behalf. In reply, we received this:

“Thank you so much - what an absolute boost to receive this in our inbox amidst everything else we are dealing with just now. We so appreciate your donation and your offer of support. We are liaising with our legal advisors over our public statement - as soon as it is out, we will share an accompanying letter that we will be asking supporters to sign and distribute. At that point, anything you can do in that regard will be a huge help.”

We had an excellent assembly yesterday with MC Hammersmith speaking at our annual Fringe Special - close to 50 people came along and sang (with our expanded house band), laughed, talked, reflected and had tea and cake.

Good to see MC Hammersmith’s posters appearing around town. Join him with us at Sunday Assembly tomorrow.

We are entering Altruistic August with the latest monthly calendar from Action for Happiness. Saturday's thought is 'set an intention to be kind to yourself (and others) this month'. With the Festival and Fringe coming into view, that could well be an excellent idea!
