Hello! Alas, poor Yorrick (aka our coffee machine) has shuffled off this mortal coil. But we have withstood the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune (ok, I'll stop the Hamlet references) by making drip coffee and cold brew instead.

What's more, our chums at Throat Punch Coffee Co. have given us some delightful Jamaican Blue Mountain beans that work really well for filter coffee, so do come and partake! (They go particularly well with oat milk, as featured in the attached picture)

Anyway, we will be closed on Sunday while we sort all this out, but back open on Monday - hopefully with espresso.

And you know what, even with the espresso up and running, we might just keep the filter and cold brew!

Hi everyone! Lots of things have been happening behind the scenes at Babka this week. We have had a complete kitchen and bathroom refurbishment and a fresh lick of paint on the outside! We can’t wait to welcome you all back.

We are nearly there but have a few finishing touches to get to tomorrow. We will be open at 8.30am for coffees and a limited selection of baked goods, and open at full capacity from Tuesday 2nd.

⚠️ advanced notice of closure ⚠️

Babka will be closing on Sunday 24th July for a week, for essential maintenance work.

If you would like to make a reservation for breads, bagels or cakes for the week we’re shut, please do so before Friday 22nd for collection before 2pm on Saturday 23rd.

We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused but look forward to seeing you again on the 1st August!

Hey everyone, had a couple of covid cases along staff so we'll be closed Wednesday, Thursday, and probably Friday as well. Definitely back open on Saturday though. Sorry for any inconvenience, and do email [email protected] if you have any queries regarding orders, etc.

Meet the Hen Collective's first artist: Katherine Stanley (she/they)!

“Helloooo, my name Is kat! I’m an intermedia artist born and bred in Belfast but currently living here in Edinburgh and unleashing a wave of bird themed art on this city. My practice revolves around an adoration for all things bizarre, crafting a world separate from my own in which parasitic cuckoos from the stars reign supreme. These cuckoos fly from their home planet fuelled by a need to control and feed off humanity. Inspired by beliefs in Irish changeling culture I’ve become entranced by ideas of autonomy and mind control, with nothing else to do in lockdown but tumble headfirst down a wormhole of my own making. So come along to Babka and wander into this surreal realm awash with birds from galaxies afar.”

Kat's exhibition will be open to the public at Babka from the 12th September and we are so excited for you to see their work!

We are very sorry to announce that Babka will be unexpectedly closed for the coming days. One of our team has tested positive for COVID-19 so we will all be getting tested and taking the appropriate precautions. We will miss you while we are gone but will be back open again as soon as it is safe for us to do so! All orders during this time are unfortunately cancelled, including Friday chollahs. In the meantime, please support our fellow small business buddies around Tollcross!
