I had the absolutely pleasure of creating this beautiful christening cake for one of my previous couples, whom I had the honour of making a wedding cake for a couple of years ago.

One of the most rewarding parts of my job is when couples return to me to celebrate the next chapter of their lives. From weddings, to christening, birthdays, anniversaries and everything in between, it's such a privilege to be trusted with creating cakes for life's special moments.

I know cake terminology can sometimes be confusing, especially if you're not ordering cakes each day, so I thought I'd explain why all of my cakes are finished in fondant.

Buttercream is made from butter and icing sugar and can be used both between the cake layers and on the outside of a cake. Fondant, on the other hand, is rolled out and carefully applied over the cake to create a smooth, flawless finish.

While both styles are beautiful, fondant covered cakes are where my passion lies. I love the clean finish it create and endless possibilities it offers for detailed designs and decoration.

Because I specialise in fondant work, I no longer offer cakes that are finished entirely in buttercream. I believe it's important to focus on what I do best so that every cake leaving my kitchen is of the highest standard.

If you are looking for a buttercream finished cake, I know some incredibly talented cake makers who specialise in that style, and I'd always be happy to point you in the right direction.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of delivering this elegant three tier cake to the stunning Granary Wedding Barn.

Each tier featured a different flavour chosen by the couple: rich chocolate salted caramel, indulgent biscoff, and classic vanilla. The design was finished with delicate dried pressed flowers wrapped around each tier, creating soft meadow inspired vibes that perfectly complemented the venue.
