The final reveal!

After three days of sharing little glimpses of this cake coming together, I'm so happy to finally share the finished cake for Z & T's wedding.

A huge congratulations to you both on your wedding day! It was such a pleasure creating your cake and delivering it to the beautiful North Shore Hotel, where the stunning sea views made the perfect setting for their celebrations.

They chose a gorgeous three tier wedding cake, with three delicious flavours.
Lemon
Chocolate Salted Caramel
Cherry Bakewell

Their colour scheme of blue and yellow was brought into the design with blue ribbon and pretty yellow roses, while delicate scroll detailing running down one side of the cake added a little extra elegance.

And of course the sweetest finishing touch, their adorable knitting bride and groom sitting proudly on top.

I absolutely loved bringing all these little details together to create something personal for their special day.

Yesterday I baked the cakes, today's part of the process involved filling, stacking, and covering in white chocolate ganache, getting everything lovely, smooth and sturdy before the final decorating begins.

There's something so satisfying about watching individual cake layers slowly start to look like a wedding cake.

And I'm not finished yet, tomorrow I'll cover in sugar paste, and then the really exciting part, the decorating.

You see the pretty cakes... but there's a whole lot of cleaning that happens behind the scenes too! 😁

My month deep clean is definitely not the most exciting part of the job, but it's one of the most important. From worktops and oven to the sink and floors, everything gets a good scrub so I can keep my kitchen clean, fresh and up to my 5 star hygiene standards.

And whilst I'd love to be able to say yes, unfortunately, it's not something I offer.Because I work from my home kitchen...

And whilst I'd love to be able to say yes, unfortunately, it's not something I offer.

Because I work from my home kitchen, I'm not able to keep gluten-free ingredients, equipment and preparation areas completely separate from the rest of my baking.

And when it comes to gluten-free cakes, particularly for anyone with coeliac disease or a serious gluten intolerance, I don't want to make something and tell you it's safe when I can't guarantee that.

So I've made the decision not to offer gluten-free products rather than risk giving you something that isn't suitable.

It's really important to me that you can order your cake knowing exactly what you're getting, and I'd much rather be honest about what I can and can't safety provide.

So if you're in the Lincolnshire area and are looking for a gluten-free cake maker, I hope this helps you understand why I may not be the right fit for your order.

Because when you really think about it, I'm not just making cakes.

I'm making the cake you'll have cutting photos with on your wedding day.

The cake your little one will blow out their candles on.

The cake sitting in the middle of the table while everyone you love gathers around it.

The cake that becomes part of the photographs, the memories and stories you'll tell for years to come.

And honestly, that feels pretty special.

1) I think about how the cake fits in to the whole celebration.
Not just the cake itself, the venue, the flowers, the colour palette, stationery, and overall feel. The cake should look like it belongs there.

2) I obsess over the little finishing details.
Whether it's perfect placed florals, clean edges, subtle texture, or tiny handmade details, nothing is just "good enough".

3) I make sure it tastes as beautiful as it looks.
Delicious flavour combinations, quality ingredients, a cake that your guests will talk about long after the last slice has been eaten.

4) I add my own style to it.
I do take inspiration from pictures client send me, but then create something that feels theirs.

5) I care about what happens when the cake leaves my kitchen.
The finish, the presentation, the packaging, delivery and set up, because a beautiful cake arriving damaged or looking anything less than perfect completely defeats the point.
