No, one of the biggest misconceptions about ordering a bespoke cake is that you need to have every single detail planned before you get in touch.

The truth is, ordering a cake should be fun, not stressful.

To get started, I only need a few simple details:

For wedding cakes:
● Your wedding date
● Your venue
● Approximate guest numbers
● Any design ideas or inspiration you have

For birthday or any other celebration cakes:
● The date you need it
● Approximate numbers of servings
● The occasion
● Any themes, colours or designs ideas you love

That's enough for me to get a real feel for what you're looking for, and from there we can work together to create something that's perfect for your celebration.

The funny thing is, it wasn't confidence.

When I started making cakes, I didn't wake up one day feeling ready. I didn't feel like an expert. I certainly didn't think I had everything figured out.

I just kept saying yes to learning, yes to improving, and yes to challenging myself.

Every wedding cake I've created has taught me something new, and every couple who trusted me with their celebration helped me build the confidence I have today.

So maybe a little delusion, but a lot of practice, a lot of hard work, and a genuine love for creating something special for each couple. And for that I'm incredibly grateful.

Congratulations to L&L who got married yesterday and celebrated their reception at the beautiful Scrivelsby Walled Garden.

They chose a 3 tier cake with lemon, raspberry and cookie & cream as their flavours. Finished with an artificial peony, white roses, sage green details, and touches of gold.

The cake was displayed on a rustic wooden barrel inside the stunning tipi, such a gorgeous setting for a summer wedding.

There's a lot that goes into every order, but getting to create something meaningful for people will always be the best part for me.

Congratulations to N & K who tied the knot yesterday.

And for once, the Great British weather really showed up. Although I think some guests may have said it was slightly too hot!

They chose a beautiful 3 tier wedding cake with lemon, raspberry, and cherry bakewell as their flavours. Complete with a handcrafted statement sugar rose and eucalyptus to tie in perfectly with their gorgeous green & white theme and venue styling.

Alongside the cake, they also had iced shortbread biscuits as wedding favours for their guests, such a lovely touch.

Let's talk about the question every couple has at some point in their planning. "How much does a wedding cake actually cost?"

Here's the honest truth: Most couples have never bought a custom cake before, so it's totally normal to compare it to supermarket cakes and get a bit of a shock. But wedding cakes aren't just "cake". They're hours (and hours) of:

Designing, baking, stacking, decorating, delivering, setting up at your venue

You're not just paying for sponge... You're paying for skill, flavour, craftsmanship and peace of mind.

Because each wedding cake is completely bespoke, there's no one-price-fits-all answer. I really wish there was, it would make life so much easier for everyone. But every design, size, flavour and detail changes the final cost.
